For lubricity for your pump, I use either optilube or Hot shots. both companys have products for just lubrication that's vastly superior to 2 stroke oil. Optilube had studies that show how much better it does over alot of other competitors in an independent lab study. Hotshots is a newer additive and is also great for lubrication, preventing rust, cleaning, cetane, etc.
I watched a video about this not long ago, and Hot Shots did not perform very well.

no clue......

But is those millions of miles in a newer diesel with a modern ejection pump as I had asked? Or millions of miles with a old db2 injection pump, with ULSD where as ULSD did not even exist yet?

Answer: No.

Many do run a 2 cycle oil in these old dogs to protect the pump, due to the very known lack of lubrication in ULSD. I do, and the truck run noticably better with it than without.

The notion that no adding a lubricator to the fuel is a bad notion. It can only help, if used properly.
To each, their own. I care about you adding oil to an oil about as much as you care about me not adding oil to oil. Neither of us are going to convince the other to change their mind.
