Hello everyone. I have an MEP 803a Fermont that will make power. I can even adjust the power with the volts knob, however the contactor is not closing and the A/C circuit interruptor light stays on. Even if the unit is not running and the switch is the prime run position, the light will stay on. I installed an aftermarket voltage regulator from Mr. Klopp but nothing changed. Everything on the front panel works as it should, and the unit cranks just find. But the (k1) contactor won’t close and the volts, and hertz meter won’t work.

Sounds like your K1 relay is not working right. That light can only come on when the K1 is energized, OR, the contacts are stuck. Take a rubber mallet and TAP, not beat it like Man Mountain Dean, tap it a few times. If that wont help, you need to remove the K1 and open it up. Clean it and or unstick it.

I will give that a try. Right now the contactor is in the open position I’m curious which wire closes K1. Maybe it’s not getting the proper voltage?

Good Day: The DS6 and DS7 are press to test LED lamps. Place the S1 in RUN, and press the indicators. This will see if one is just stuck. If your DS7 stays lit, take a meter with everything OFF, and set it to read OHMS. Measure from the AC interrupter switch terminal 3 wire 147A to chassis ground. No resistance or very low and the latching/holding contacts of the K1 main contactor are closed applying a ground to the LED at terminal 2 of the device DS7. Try what Guy said to do. Recheck that DS7 afterwards. Afterwards and K1 is checked good, you may want to see if while the gen is running if you have B+ at X of the main contactor and at that terminal 3 of the S5 before you try to energize that main contactor. If NO B+ check your K20 and wiring as it should NOT be energizes and it provides power to the main Contactor at the X terminal.
