My M715 is a tale as old as time.... Boy sees truck in a movie at an early age, boy falls in love with truck, boy see truck in another movie and 30 years later see the truck at a friends place, chews on buying said truck for 2 years, then pulls the trigger and picks it up on a Christmas eve..
The first movie was "Splash" in 1984 (which also introduced funny feelings about Daryl Hannah)

And the second movie was "Flatliners" in 1990.

Coincidentally, thats almost what mine looked like when I saw it at @Csm Davis place...

This began a tale that has stretched over the last 3 years.

My full build thread IS HERE.

Long story short, I've spent many hours working on her, painting her, tearing into engines, mounting tires and searching endlessly for canvas, bows, pioneer tools and other goodies for her.

I think Kevin Bacon and Keifer Sutherland would approve...

And here's a gratuitous picture of Daryl Hannah in "Splash"

The M38A1 as she looked when we brought her back from California several years ago.

When the Army was finished with the Jeep a FD purchased her and proceeded to paint her red and then do some strange modifications like removing the slave plug and tub as well as welding in the fording plug in the hood. They then installed a CJ5 engine that I have since almost completely converted back to an M38A1 configuration. I also scrounged a real clean M38A1 hood, and a couple of slave plug tubs at an MVCC meet. Am looking for a real good body & fender man to put one of the new tubs in the body.

If the FD wanted a CJ5, why didn't they buy one in the first place rather than butcher an otherwise clean M38A1. Who knows?

Why FDs do what they do to old MVs remains a mystery to most of us!
One of my recent experiences was while fixing up my former-FD M715, there were something like 43 extraneous holes drilled about the bed, the seemingly random location of which defy comprehending what they had mounted back there. :shrugs:

Cheers
