Looking to find a digital copy of G200 SNL-ORD9 (parts manual) for The M24 Chaffee tank. Need to verify the part number for the engine crankshaft and compare to The M5 Stuart. Both tanks utilize the Cadillac flathead V8 so I assume they are interchangeable. Looking to confirm prior to replacement.

Thanks.

You will not find a digital version of that TM. I am 90% sure they are the same, suggest you PM member "hawk-aggie" who works at a museum that has both a Stuart and Chaffee and all the associated TMs.

Only thing that may be different is the length of the snout of the crankshaft. Depending on what accessories they had attached to it. For what you guys do with them at your museum would you be better to convert it to a 6v53 and Allison automatic? Should be able to eliminate both engines, Transmissons and that transfer box, and just run a driveshaft direct to the front differential. I'm going to do that to my M37, and if an engine blows in my M19A1 I'll do the same to it as well.

Would like to maintain the originality of this one as it's fairly unique in Canada. One engine is still in serviceable condition so that's driving the repair on the other. Not that 6V53s wouldn't work, would be an interesting mod. Have a number of them in our other M113 variants. Only thing running off the snout is the 3V pulley that drives the water pump and generator. Thanks for the reply.

So badass to hit the start button on the left Caddy, having it bust off, then the right Caddy, then hearing the combined rumble, before dropping the Hydramatics into “lets go” and hearing the Caddies scream.
