Single out on stock wheels and tires

Hello everyone, so eventually I’m planning on replacing all the tires on my deuce and singling it out on larger tires but will probably keep the stock rims when I do, I understand I can do this if I flip the rear hubs and run the wheels dish out. My question is, has anybody singled your truck out on stock 11.00x20 tires before. The idea here is to at least get the hubs serviced and flipped around and to get rid of a few old tires in the meantime time before buying the super singles. Just wondering if it’s been done and if so does it look goofy as all hell or halfway decent.

all i can tell you is in the early 2000's a motorpool i drove past had a couple M35A2's that they singled out just by removing the outer duals and left the inners facing inward .. The trucks looked goofy as all hell

idk if this works but if there was an opportunity to grab a set of six special-single rims w/1100x20's from a M135 (gmc hydramatic) or (rare) M34 , if that gave a tolerable wheel setting it might save you the bother of flipping hubs etc , but i don't know, have not done it, have not seen it

I singled-out my M49C while i am parting it out, flipping the inner wheels around to face outward.. It doesn't look bad at all but to run a loaded truck this way puts a lot of leverage/strain on the bearings .. If you just want to run empty around town on occasion, i believe you could get away with just doing this for the time being while you are waiting to do the super singles

M34 and M135 wheels were designed to run as singles with rear hub flips. The most tedious part is pulling and reinstalling the wheel studs. They will accommodate up to 12.00-20 tires.

Thanks guys this was helpful. Especially 98g’s picture. And I don’t haul much with it, firewood occasionally but that’s it. It’s mainly a tool around town because it looks neat truck for me. That doesn’t look terrible. Just a little different. May be ok until I can buy those supers. Correct me if I’m wrong but if I want to run the stock a2 rims with supers I do have to flip hubs and flip the outer wheel correct?

I have a stud installation tool I got for my 1-ton van. It's a thrust bearing with which you use an impact wrench and a suitable nut to pull the stud into where it belongs. It's similar to this: https://www.lislecorp.com/specialty-tools/truck-wheel-stud-installer

The thing that would probably annoy me the most are the locking wires that go between the bolts that fasten the hub to the brake drum. Though some trucks didn't come with that setup My M35A3 does.

What size super single do you intend?(this probably means a wheel swap as well.)

Probably something a little smaller than 395’s what that might be I need to do more research on

The M34 and M135 trucks ran single 11.00x20 tires, which Google says are about 43" in diameter. They fit on stock deuce rims. The super single about the same diameter is a 365/80R20 or 14.5R20, which is what the M35A3 was built with, but that's a wider rim too.

I think the 11.00x20 is worth looking into.

So basically if I just flipped my hubs in the rear and ran the rear wheels dish out on stock 11.00x20’s it should look more or less similar to an m35. Because 11.00x20 military tires are what I currently have on it.

I think it would look more like this, but with regular deuce rims:



That's a Canadian-built deuce, which I think had a Cummins diesel, an automatic transmission, and bolt-together rims.
