Well, despite the weather men and politicians best efforts I donā€™t think Iā€™ll get to use my 803a. Iā€™m 2-3 miles from the ocean an we have hardly gotten more than light rain and are finally getting a little bit of wind. Most of the time we have been on the outside edge of the precipitation. So a complete nothing burger. I was looking forward to being able to do some real world testing. We did have one tree branch come down, but it was rotten. I guess it really is true, the more prepared you are the less likely it will be that you have to use the backup items. I hope the Carolinas didnā€™t get too much rain.

Well... It got a little gray and it sprinkled just a bit here in Charlotte.
Never more than a slow drizzle and it lasted less than an hour.

I worked on a HAWK ADA site in Germany for 10.5 years. We ran TAC POWER 24/7, 365 days a year. We ran 6-7 gen sets, all the time, as a norm. In 1977 we moved to a new TAC SITE. Still could not use the power converters there. 220/380 volts, 50 Hertz to 416 Volts, 400 hertz. No one could figure out what the problem was, from 1977 to 1885 when I left. Shortly before the site was closed in 1989, the problem was solved, (Smart guy from Raytheon). I was later told that the fence that surrounded the site, (steel mesh, plastic coated) was connected to the central grounding system, that the Radar system used. When the wind blew, (and it was always blowing) acted like a huge capacitor. The wind created static electricity, and when the fence had charged up enough, it discharged into the central ground system. Once the fence was separated from the Central Ground System, everything at last worked right. TAC POWER becomes interesting when you run the same gen sets 5-60 days without stopping them. Or longer.

I saw photos from somewhere down the shore with flooding just shy of the Sandy marker... I'm glad you got nothing, but there are some folks that are seeing things differently.

I haven't had a power outage more than 20 minutes since I put in the generator connection. Most of them, I was out of town. Other than testing, it seems like I won't put much real use on the system until I have to pull the meter panel off in a year or two to replace all the siding. That's ok with me.

Yeah, the barrier islands like Seaside and Long Beach Island. They always flood when it rains and a high tide makes it worse. But that considered normal unless you listen to doom and gloom weather people who are just looking for ratings. We finally got some wind yesterday and lost a rotten maple tree branch in the front yard. I plan on doing a test with the house hooked up when the weather clears, maybe next weekend as my job has me clocking 60 hours a week.
