Hi everyone,

This may remind you of my thread about dirty fuel.
I always had this black slime in my diesel and was convinced that I had filled up with crap and now it was messing up my tank.

Now I have it again, and I can see it when I fill up (a small pool at the fuel nozzle).
With all the anti-diesel fungus I've been pouring in there over the past few weeks, nothing can survive in there anymore.

When I look at it, it's motor oil. But damn it, how did motor oil get into the diesel? It can only have come in via the lift pump.
Or am I wrong and there's an even more common way via the injection pump?

Motor oil would just mix with the fuel and you would never see it.
If you had bugs and killed them you would still have millions of dead bodies in the tank.

Never seen anything like it, I consider myself an expert on the algae issues and treatment, the application of a good anti-microbial will turn the asphaltine into almost a sand, that will find its way into the filter, that’s why the treatment requires weekly change of the fuel filter till it’s been remediated. I personally replace the fuel tank and all it’s associated parts, as well as a new fuel pump, fuel filter and canister has to be cleaned with brake cleaner, the injection pump is an absolute last resort if the algae has already caused irreparable damage.

from this point of view... your'r right.
But what is this black mass?!
Probably the diesel was contaminated with something? Paint inside the tank coming off, fuel lines (return) not up to todays fuel standards? And lastly water in the fuel, i had something similar in my MRZR and it was water making it's way into the tank every time we were offroading.
