    Hours

    I have been watching the auctions and see a few Mep-0004 and 0005's that have 6,000 to 7,500 hours on them. At this many hours do they still have use left in them or is a total rebuild required? Thanks, Bruce

    Separately Excited

    Can someone tell me briefly what is meant by separately excited and exciter included? I am sure it means how the alternator knows when to make power but that is about all I can guess. Is this a reliable method and easy to use or just a big problem? Thank you for any answers. Bruce

    Do the sets maufactured in 1976 have the same engine and generator as the sets manufactured in the mid 80's. Is there any year that had problems and is a good idea to stay away from? Thanks, Bruce

    Auction Rating

    When a generator is listed on an auction site in condition "H" is it a sure thing it is beyond repair or has problems? One is listed as this and has 4.7 hours on it.     I bought the above genset in 30 kw. I know it is 3 phase and want to know if it can be converted to single phase 60 hz. If not can I still use it for emergency power for my home when the electric goes out? Thanks, Bruce
