When I did a wheel cylinder on my m51, the drum was stuck so hard that the only way I got it free was to set up blocking underneath the drum, and let the truck down on the drum.
The full weight of the truck broke whatever kind of corrosion that was holding it tight.
I got my transfer case from Kublo's, great people to deal with.
Don't use mapquest or any other search engine to find Brackney, Pa.
They will send you through all kinds of back roads to get you there.
The above posted directions will get you there just fine.
When I told Mrs Kublo of the time...
Just bite the bullet and get a new case.
I played with a case that had the same problems as yours for more than three years,
all I got was experience climbing in and out from under the truck.
Just before the case came out, it wouldn't even drive in reverse in high range, had to shift to low...
Don't put another gasser in there, the fuel economy(or lack of) will be the same.
The 3208 is a good engine, just not a 'great' engine. It will work well for this, as it's original intention was for use in medium trucks.
When used in a big tri axel dump, or as a log truck, they had short...
his engine type is in the title of his post. 'NHC 250'
(thats a cummins, by the way)
Any well equiped heavy truck parts store will have the filters.
to be sure, bring the old ones with you.
I believe that the t-case is the same between the m51 and the 800 series.
I think the number is t-138 rockwell.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
Also, this may be a good time to upgrade my transmission.
The trans in it currently is the one for the multi-fuel. hence no overdrive.
I'd like...
Hi, All.
Update on the transfer case in my five ton.
I think I puked it.
Not only does it jump out of gear decellerating, but it will not drive in reverse if you keep it in high range.
Drop the transfer into low range, and you can go in reverse, it won't pop out if gear in low range either...
front windshield is cracked on the passenger side of my 5 ton.
If any one has some good glass in eastern Pennsylvania, or north Jersey I will pick up.
Thanks in advance.
On a big truck an engine swap is easier, lots more room to work with.
To put a longer engine in where a gasser was, the procedure I followed went like this.
1) remove brush guard and radiator.
2) remove old engine.
3) switch clutch parts from flywheel on old engine to the new one.
4)...
An NH series cummins can be installed by moving the radiator ahead by about 7 inches.
New front motor mount needs to be fabricated.
Hood needs to be streched also.
If you have a winch, that makes things a bit harder, as the front frame needs streching.
A longer drive shaft for the winch...
When sarafan was in Spring Valley NY , they had their stuff together.
Jeff Bloom was the parts manager, and he had an inventory inside his head.
No waiting to see if they had parts, he KNEW.
I've heard nothing but bad news since they went to Florida.
I've got a dumptruck with a winch, I think my pto goes both front and back.
The unit should be as common as the m 53 dump trucks.
Maybe I've got two pto's, I haven't looked at it in a long time.
