I did some testing back in 2017 I think it was, the fuel consumption of my 802A and 803A (posted here.) I purchased a 831A from Govplanet about a year ago and did simular consumption testing.
Testing was limited to using a one gallon container. The onboard fuel tank was completely replaced by...
I have an 803A mounted on the military power unit trailer. I mounted a 100 gallon fuel tank on the front. And turned the generator around for easy access to the controls. Think there is 6-8” between the generator and fuel tank. There is enough room to get the cover off the fuel tank. It does...
I used one of the $20 shop-vac’s from Home Depot. It’s comes as a motor and hose, set the motor on a 5 gallon bucket. The bucket becomes the housing for the shop-vac.
Swirled water in the tank from the garden hose (Had a lot of “moon dust” in the bottom of the tank) to keep the sand...
I’ve been using the poweroutage.us website since someone posted it on here. I think it updates every 10 minutes. I watched during Florence to keep track of where the worst part was. The news had concentrated its efforts in Wilmington, where the eye was predicted to make landfall. Watching...
We have over 10 inches in Vance county. Power has been off and on some. Not enough to worry with the generators. I just need the 2,000 watt invertor if it gets worse. I've got 802 and 803 if I need it. Added 100 gallon tank on front of the 803A.
Lonesouth, I welded the two extra bungs in the top. Fuel pickup is in one corner and the fuel gauge as close to the middle as I could get. There is a baffle in the middle.
Had to grind the powdercoat off for the welds. Flap disk worked best and dont get it hot. The powdercoat will melt and...
My understanding is the fuel pump itself shouldn't let the aux fuel system siphon. The check valve will make sure it doesn't siphon. I also installed a tee after the filter (with -5 cap) so I can pull fuel from the aux tank for another generator. The manual valve isolates the main generator...
You are right. It's only 6" from the tank to the generator. However my sprained ankle has me a bit behind on my work. The generator will be turned around so the front is to the front of the trailer. I do believe operating the unit will be much easier as well. Fuel tank mounting bolts need paint...
I must have ordered the same tank cause I got the same deal you did, plus a $50 voucher. Northern Tool is only 40 miles or so from the house. They stock them in the stores here but it was cheaper to buy online. One thing I noticed. Most or all of the instore tanks were pretty beat up. Bad dents...
I have a test I run for the fuel gauge. Prop my phone on the trailer with the camera showing the fuel gauge and record a video. Then reach my hand in the filler neck to move the float arm up and down. Once I get a “feel” for the action. I say empty, quarter, half, three-quarters,full as I swing...
When I started testing one of my 803’s I noticed a similar condition. After flushing and refilling the coolant at a -25 ratio it ran cooler. The Govplanet yard for Letterkenny is just an old farm field. No infrastructure, so no water, sewer, or buildings. I’m thinking it was filled with straight...
I did something similar with my 802A and 803A. See if I can post a link to the thread it's in. https://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?172820-MEP-802A-fuel-usage-report
I found a jack built for Schutt Industries at SurplusCenter.com .Ordered one and other than the extension below the foot it's the same as the original. I cut the extension off and the flat foot allowed me to drill the holes and bolt the wheel from my old jack on. $28 is cheap for the jack, but...
Lots of people ask about fuel burn here. I originally found this site looking for the same info. Anyway, after acquiring both the MEP-802A and a MEP-803A, I performed the consumption test similar to the guy that post the YouTube video. He openly noted a cold running engine. I believe his had...
I believe you would need to install a pump at the tank and push fuel that far. I'd be surprised if that small internal pump would draw from that far away. Pump control wires would need to be run between the generator and the pump at the tank.
I understand your concern. Around here though...
