I have a chance to buy some 16.00R20 tires for my bobbed /air ride deuce. I realize these should be on wider wheels,
but I haven't found any yet ( I am looking at having the stock wheels widened, but would love to be able to mount them
and drive my truck while this is happening). Has anyone put...
It does not ride like a 1 ton pickup, but is a tremendous increase in comfort from the factory setup.
I am thinking air ride seats will make an equally huge improvement.
It is a Freightliner air ride. I have a thread titled " My bob/air ride is on its' way to getting done!"
The install wasn't too difficult. I actually did it out in the yard, and also did it almost twice due to changing
directions mid stream. SS member "Cidrich" provided invaluable tech support.
Tagged, I really want to see the use of the space between the cab and bed. I am finishing my air ride bob,and
left about 10" between them on my truck ,to add "something"?
I am using the original oak board between the bed and frame. I was thinking it would help with abrasion and noise.
The issue ( I think) with using the side bolting method ,is that it does not "load" the oak boards, but does side load the
bolts. The trailer probably has less flex and torsion than...
WOW!!!, what a difference a $65.00 part and proper hose routing can do. I bought the truck with a bad valve, it was shifting based on pressure at 35 & 55 mph, and did not downshift until stopped. I bypassed the valve and it shifted way to early. So, I have been manually shifting while searching...
I have had my vaccum solenoid/valve on the IP bypassed for so long that I can't
remember where the lines go? The valve has 2 nipples, upper and lower. Which one
is fed by the vacuum pump, and which one feeds the transmission? If someone could
take a quick peek at theirs, I would appreciate it...
I just picked up the new shorter u bolts, had the driveshaft re tubed, new ujoints in the driveshaft. The weather is slowing me down some as well as
having family come for the week of Christmas. Ever seen lampoon's " Family Christmas"?, its like that ,even have a cousin Eddie.
Okay, I know it has been a little while with no updates. I wasn't satisfied with the geometry of my current setup, the air ride leaves are supposed to be level with the frame and mine were at a 12 degree pitch.
I also wasn't thrilled with the looks of the axle over the leaves , and the bags were...
A friend found (possibly for me), an M37 ambulance. Can this be converted into the pickup version? I am thinking about a restoration/modification for my 9 year old sons first car. I am in the process of bobbing my deuce with an air ride suspension, have a M1009 cucv as a part time vehicle, and a...
I need to correct an earlier statement about clearance. The factory dog bone mount hangs down about 6.75", the new system is about 7.75",so I did give up about an inch of ground clearance for the air suspension. Both systems hang down further than the differential housing.
I agree, that was my intent when this project started. I started the install, and figured out, the bags would not fit. Fortunately the springs and everything don't hang down any further than the differential center. The truck that gave me the inspiration for this project (Cidrich's), has the...
Yes, if I put the axle under the spring, and try to maintain the approximate ride height of 10.75" between the top of the axle tube and the bottom of the frame, the air bags would have to be of a considerably smaller relaxed height. The airbags I have are approx. 10" fully bottomed. If you figure...
