I had no power in my garage at the time of doing this...
I found the source. The upgraded ARP Head Studs are leaking threw the threads. I did everything right. Cleaned the threads multiple times. Used the ARP thread sealer and torqued the nuts in sequence with Molly Lube to spec.
So I picked up a low mile 6.2 J code and replaced every single gasket on it and did a bunch of upgrades.
Since I put the motor in it has been eating Coolant very very slowly. No coolant on the ground. It is going into the oil. The oil is not creamy. It is a very dark dark green color when you...
Yes that is very helpful! The new pump is a DB2-4544. Isn’t that a 6.5 pump?
Old pump is a DB2-2829. I just replaced the leaking rubber O rings on the throttle.
No loss in the coolant levels.
The thing is... How is it a custom built ip has to be advanced so much to get it to run decent? What would I have to do internally to fix the advancement?
I did not have a shop check the heads. The motor has 23,000 orig miles on it. I installed ARP Head Studs with the Arp thread sealer.,
Honestly I think it is the IP. I will replace it with the old one once I replace the throttle Seal.
I did put this new ip on a different 6.2 and still had the same issues and ended up putting the old ip back on and the motor had no issues. I do not think it is a coolant leak because I did new head gaskets as well. I will test the cold advance. Other ideas?
Hello! I bought a custom built DB2 IP from Badgerdiesel eBay because the old ip was leaking from the throttle seal. I installed the new ip and the M1009 fired right up but ran rough with white smoke with the ip timing set mark to mark. I advanced the timing as far as I could and it runs a lot...
From my experience they never really liked long tugs up big hills. You could... Upgrade the water pump, get a coolant flush done, have the radiator dipped and cleaned, electric fans with the mechanical fan, vented hood to name a few. Lower gears too.
I wish it was that easy of a fix! Lol!
I fired it up after another hard start and checked the blow by before warm up and there is some white puffs coming out of the filler. I took the M1009 to the shop to get the brakes power flushed since I just finished the rear disk brake conversion. After...
Yes my bad... I had a manual flip switch and somehow hit it with my knee when I drunknly got out of the blazer... It does have some some blow by. How much is too much blow by?
I installed years ago a push button override glow plug button and an upgraded heated spin on fm100 fuel filter set up. What would be the normal cold watts/Amps for the glow plugs?
I do have to be honest to get the best info from you guys. The hard starts did not start happening until I got...
