Steel Soldiers now has a few new forums, read more about it at: New Munitions Forums!

It's the OEM one with a new set of fans and a simple, flat shroud. I had new lines made up and fabbed up the mount. It presently sets on posts on the crossmember but I may revise that once I have the subframe constructed. I tried to keep it as simple as possible.
With a 1088, one frame doubler is inside the main rail and one is on the outside. The stacked rails seen on the other variants are not found on the 1088. This leaves the tops of the rear tires about ~1" (max) below the top of the main chassis frame rail, so in my case, I actually want to build...
To keep this thread on topic, I posted some answers on my build thread:

Questions were posed in another thread regarding the space benefit of relocating the spare and intake. I took out the tape measure and took some rough guess-timates which should get you close if you're thinking you want to do this.
Total space occupied by the equipment is about 24". I didn't...
They were $239 each plus freight on Thurs, according to Jeff, roughly $500 for the pair of bags without the shocks.
He is checking on the availability of the shocks for me and I will follow up with info when I get data.
They are still listed on the Ohio Hydraulic site for $112 though...
Thanks for the suggestions.
In an effort to determine if it was starter side or wiring side, I jumped the solenoid input and the starter spun the motor. Just for laughs, I tried the dash starter button and it worked. Truck starts again as normal. I feel like I still need to confirm that it's...
I am about to start tearing through the troubleshooting routines but if anyone has any quick check recommendations, here's the situation:
I went to work on it this afternoon and it started fine. Ran it about 8 min, just to move it slightly and air up. Raised the cab.
Finished working on what...
So bringing this thread full circle then, this pic:
...is the actually the Firestone airbag already replaced over the shock. The two are separately manufactured, and based on the other pics such as this one:
..they are "easily" swappable individually. It's starting to make sense now...
When I pull mine apart, will take some pics and post them here. I am reluctant to do so in the short term though as Jeff said there is a long lead time (6w) for these and I don't want to be out of commission that long.
If someone else has a better pictoral demonstration of this, I'd be happy...
Also...
He looked up the invoice for FloridaAKM's order (or at least another order in the April/May timeframe which went to Gainesville), and it showed the 997900 being the part number ordered. Would the PP unit be Firestone branded for some reason?
...and according to Tenmogger from page 1...
I just got off the phone with Jeff who had just gotten off the phone with Power Packer. He said that they said the bag unit 997900 does NOT include shock. I wasn't sure how it wouldn't, but this is my first exposure to these types of parts and I'm learning as I go.
Sorry to ask what is probably a dumb question but i will anyway. The part number referenced for the Power Packer unit (997900) is not the Firestone unit shown in the picture, is it?
Does the Power Packer unit come with the shock as well, like I assume the Firestone one does?
What is the P/N...
Actually, like you, I was asking a question for someone to confirm.
I have seen inoffensive prices on Amazon for .43 gram beads in the 3k and 5k(?) packs. ~$14 or so with free shipping I think. Seemed reasonable on first glance. I imagine Cabella's or Bass Pro or other hunting places would...
I still wasn't ready to abandon the pass through idea though. With our truck camper, that was one of the things which I had always wanted and even if we didn't use it all that much, I could see how it would be useful. After burning some additional creative calories, I thought up a fairly...
First things first: put some round tires on this thing!
It felt like some of these tires were getting square and with a new set lying in the corner, it became the first "repair". I do have a decent mechanical and automotive background, but this is a whole new world for me in terms of scale of...
Hi all.
To start with, thank you for the existence of this forum. I haven't been around here too long or spent much time in the other subforums but there seems to be a very high signal to noise ratio within the FMTV community, and a number of very knowledgeable people willing to share and...
From the linked doc:
"If using dynamic balancing (e.g. ball bearings - be sure to use something that won’t clog the CTIS), a ratio of 1oz to every 13lb of tire works well."
So with ~350 pounds of wheel and tire, 350/13*1 yields ~27 ounces or ~1.68 pounds of media.
Does that sound about correct?
Donaldson PSD10's. I don't really have a build thread here (yet). It struck me as a place for more OE-oriented vehicles. The more time I spend here, the more it seems like the full spectrum of conversation is appreciated so I will likely get something going soon.
They are Donaldson PSD10's which I copied from the Blissordie build. I think they were ~$500 for the pair through an auction vendor, and about twice that at a normal retailer. I bought the elbows and tube and fabbed my own pipework.
