Soni has taught me a great deal on my truck so I hope he doesn't mind me sharing some of this info in his place time to time. The Cat Trans if very strong and very easy to drive once you learn to be patient between shifts and let the trans do its thing. I have a problem when I picked my truck...
Yeah I remember you telling me that story, when I picked mine up in LA I triple checked with my fluke to make sure it was reading 12v (and it was) before I plugged anything into it. Mine must have been in service long enough for that tsb.
you would be surprised how little it may take to make it run again. REPLACE ALL FUEL LINES BEFORE TRYING TO START. This always seems to be a big problem on ones that are even serviced regularly. The pump uses suction to run and the smallest air leak in the lines will put her down.
the one on the right is the more common dodge cummins p pump the other is the p pump on the mil 8.3's not to say you could not find one off of a later 8.3 and swap it out.
afaik the only difference between it and the civi p7100 is there is no fuel plate in the 8.3, there is a fuel rod that you can adjust instead. The plungers etc are the same. I have a pretty in depth knowledge of the dodge based pumps and by looking at some up close pics posted on gl they are...
I learned something new today.. Spent good money on a set of trucklite 24v LED headlights for my 920 only to find out that the truck runs 12v HEADLIGHTS!!!! a little frustrating but I will just put them on a deuce. So I think I will convert it to hid, it runs the pre halogen sealed beams so...
there is a guy in the classifieds selling 24v led headlights, not to give anything away but they are trucklite and I paid $100 for a pair shipped. Very worth it in my opinion.
I think you would be better off replacing all of them with the 20" hemtt wheels or similar. The tires and wheels you are looking for are very rare and would be troublesome when it came time to replace them again.
don't listen to the purists, they were not paying attention when they clicked on the "5ton modding and hot rodding" link to tell you what to do with your stuff. I think its a great idea and if I had one I would bob it too, I think I would but the bed down to 12 ft instead of 9 and ditch the rear...
Hey Justin, is this rig for you or for a customer, if its for a customer make sure they pay dearly for it because I think the 8.3 is a huge upgrade for that truck. What will you have to do to the tranny to run those kind of #'s?
I think it would be more cost effective to buy a complete truck. Most of the parts used for these trucks are over the counter commercial truck parts but as I have found out there are a lot of one off small parts that hold it all together that are really tough to find. I think both engines have...
well rather than making a bunch of people work hard to find this part just yet I went through and took the front end all apart tonight and the darn thing fell apart like butter, Well with a little propane torch and some pen oil it did anyways. Almost as if it had been serviced at least once in...
on the 920 on the drivers side of the tie rod there is an adapter/adjuster for the alignment. I have called rockwell and if I could only see the dumbfounded look across the other line it would have been priceless. My truck is toed in a little over an inch which would explain the drastic tire...
