Any idea if the core is _really_ different then the CIV pump? Or is it just a higher tension bi-pass spring to keep the pressure up. (I'm assuming it would be different if it's higher pressure AND higher flow then a standard one.)
Since you have a thermal fan, someone has tinkered with it using civy parts. The Integral reservoir pump is a standard GM Saginaw design but the hmmwv uses a specific to it only higher pressure pump due to the hydraulic fanclutch not used on Gm, Hummer, or civy models and some trucks can be...
That is not going to happen on any hot day, not if you are trying to get somewhere at least, you will probably not see any difference with the 180 thermostat but in the winter when you would be happy to get 190, the fan controls the max temp not the thermostat.
They all run hot, at least all...
What was the high temp reading on the gauge?
My understanding is that the system can work in the range of 190-230 under load and full throttle should disengage the fanclutch for 20 sec indeed. I freaked out thinking my hmmwv was overheating but I was told it's actually normal.
That being, I'd...
BAD DATA HERE! THE CORRECT NUMBER FOR THE MR GASKET THERMOSTAT IS 4367. This is their 2.5", 180 degree thermostat.

With the warmer summer months here now I wanted to post this information on the thermostat I just installed. I had the front end pulled apart to replace the fanclutch...
All of the civilian 6.5 fans should be for a serpentine belt setup. If you have that part figured out then, yes it will fit the fan shroud. I have a Duramax fan on my Cowdog Suburban with the serpentine belt and stock 1987 6.2 fan shroud.
I have no clue about a HMMWVfan and fanclutch with...
Well, looks like its finally time to replace the radiator in my 1045. Its been weeping for awhile at the top tank, and getting worse now so...Is NOS OEM AM General the best option, or are there good replacements out there that seem to work well. Not looking to remove the hydraulic clutch at...
Not sure what you mean, you will need to custom build everything, mounts/ rear crossmember, convert the truck to 12V, find and or adapt a transfer case with a driver side drop, most likely unless you can adapt the original transfer case all new drive shafts will be needed, adapt the cooling...
The Gm 6.2 and 6.5 diesels will fit in the M47/M43 engine compartment. You will have to make motor mounts of some type to put the motor in the truck. You will have to hunt down a manual transmission flywheel as HMMWV have automatics and therefor have a pressure plate and torque converter...
Thanks the fan does not move back and fourth when i disconnect TDM and the sound doesn't change . the fan can not be moved when the truck is not running which i understand is normal.
What are you using to determine that it is engaged all the time? Is it just because it is still spinning? Just an FYI but the fan spins all the time when it is running but when engaged it spins with much greater force. When the engine is running you can disconnect the the time delay and that...
Well, the Humvee pulley set works.
The water pump pulley comes with a mounting boss for the Humvee fanclutch which is not correct for a CUCV. You just have to remove this boss and machine a counterbore to accept the CUCV fan, or I suppose you could run a Humvee fan.
Also the spacing off the...
A. A length of 2x4 or 4x4 steel tubing from side to side might allow you to move your balance point to a better position. For what its worth.
B. Care to elaborate on the make and model of your lift..... overhead space...etc. My birthday is coming up and I need a hint for my wife.
I was able to put it on my lift today. I think part of my challenge is that I installed my lift in the "wide" configuration. You can also set it up in a narrower config where the posts are about 1ft closer to each other. The wide config gives clearance for wide vehicles to open doors a...
That's a nice setup!! I wanted to ask if you have done the 3 foot screwdriver to the ear sound check on the 5 idle pulleys on this engine...that ac clutch one is magnificent...great way to keep the stock belt routing...just throwing that out there just to make sure it's not one of them vs the...
Red diesel is off road fuel, no taxes..... just replaced the oring and dust seal in the front of my fanclutch........ try tightening the 1/2 nut on the front if you can get an arm in..... an extra elbow helps....... and it will not turn much, just snug it up and see if that helps. Pull the fuel...
1. Regarding alternator. Game over in an ecv if it poops out regardless of how your fan is powered.
2. I am not impressed with R and D by AM general beyond the original invention which we can all agree is awesome. The geared fan drive is a CV joint with a fanclutch that should have been...
I am running a modified Dmax fan and clutch, 0-60 about 6 seconds (would be less but I keep forgetting to put it in 4WD and allot of time goes up in smoke) vs 27 in my 6.2L helmet top
I went with the cheap Champion radiator seems to have decent build quality
I was not aware of the overheating problem. So far I haven't been to a forum or need any other information about the truck. Before it was put into storage, it ran like clockwork despite the now obvious damage. Never had a failure of overheating also not with trailer - but the Chevy is in germany...
