    Tie rod end dust boots?

https://www.energysuspensionparts.com/universal-dust-boots.asp Can't find the paperwork, but got the BIG picture. At the time I ordered they were the largest one they made. At first they didn't look quite right but when tighten down... snug and sealed. After 7 years still like new and red...

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

For all those reasons, 🤔 and my own thoughts. My M37 case used gear oil and it's still going 60 years later. My HumV transfer case will be a guinea pig test truck a tax right off. Get some baseline temp measurements and the whine (which has been a noise coming from ?) and then switch to...

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

Just kicking this around the shop.... Transfer case aluminum ATF... Iron case gear oil. Like the OP said, gears is gears. Those transfer cases do seem a bit sloppy. Now the automatic transmission that's another story with it's clutches, and control valves. Gear oil in there and it's a brick...

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

A rule of thumb is that if the case is cast iron, use a gear oil, or in the case of the np203, you need to use 30wt motor oil. Aluminium case Dextron lll. Next under the truck drain and fill.... as an experiment I think I will bypass the cooler and swap some fluids. Looking too see if it...

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

I like the way you think on the transfer case. 🤔 Never used ATF in any of the transfer cases till the HumV show up. OEM guys are going to have something to say. All 👂's. Thinking outside the box (y) Gearbox, CAMO

Upgrade steering linkage Basic to A2?

The little I know ?? it doesn't take much change in the steering components to affect geometry, then show up at the steering wheel. So I take it that going down the road true and straight... the steering wheel center spoke is off. Funny LOL it is an adjustment / Spec in the TM. Needs...

Upgrade steering linkage Basic to A2?

Time to make some comparisons between parts?? Using AMG parts on my rebuild and being the goof I is... The spokes were close to what the TM wanted. To dial it in, the tie rods needed a little tweek while keeping toe aligned. You are right... all the linkage / coupling is keyed as I remember...

New member, from Kansas 1097R1 owner

Likely is the mast support, missing parts with a antenna bracket added in an unlikely place. A little weird to see it configured as a troop carrier ??? If it was all there, that would be a keeper too, CAMO

Rhino tire carrier, That's a BIG plus. Deal le oh on the on the side is the deal le oh... I have no idea. Not the antenna support gizmo that I have seen before. If it is ??? it is missing a large bracket down by the bumper. Extra parts for sure, CAMO

    Electrical Gremlins. HMMWV M1097R1.

Monty, I'll pick door number two on the right for the trip to China Land. Another way to tell, the bright gold zinc plating and soft metal screws they use. Are those China com glow plugs in the background? One is going to pay to play real HUMV, CAMO

Hard Start Only On Cold Start

Another fortune cookie controller bites the dust. I have a few in the junk box too, But it doesn't stop there.... Buy American for your US GI Truck, CAMO

    LVOSS launcher

IMO.... and here it goes. One might be better shooting candy pieces out with compressed air. Kids love that stuff at parades. Or cheap little stuff toys, colorful necklaces??? I can see them now running, screaming, climbing over one another to get at the prize. Grandpa too. I'am sure...

    M1165 400 Amp Generator questions

Seems strange and not knowing the hours, use, abuse or it just is one of those electrical points of failure that can happen. As stated, the fan and wiper motors do work the way said. Anyway there is a lot of smart stuff going on in those boxes. Strange design can be said about many of the...

    M1165 400 Amp Generator questions

Might tell us what controller you have or shoot a picture. There's a good chance it is contributing to the flakey condition you describe. Next time hit it with a hammer...Really, but not to hard. Rubber mallet :hammer: Gremlins and pixies 👾 ⚡ not playing nice it the Brain BOX, CAMO

6.5L GEP - Black Smoke when accelerating

Along those lines... My truck, right pump, right injectors, right seatbelts. BUT at 2200 ft ASL it sort of would roll a little coal action and a bit more when getting up and going . Even more at upper elevations (to be expected). I didn't care for it that much. I turn the IP fuel delivery down...
