Well, I won one of these neat NOS map lights on Ebay and plan to mount it on the flat plastic section of my M1028 dash. It will cover the little holes where the "Custom Deluxe" emblem normally is mounted.
My question is, what vehicle were these things originally intended for? What kind of...
Thanks Rich Johnson for the info. And thanks also to mistaken1 for the vertical position of the bracket (even with the top of the bed). Now if I can determine the correct horizontal position on the front of the bed, I'll be ready to drill & mount. Rich, I will indeed use the Nut Serts in all...
OK, I got my Nut Certs ordered from Mcmaster Carr, now I need to know the exact location to mount the antennae bracket. I want to mount it in the forward position on the side of my M1028 on the driver's side. Is there a positioning template available?
Thanks for everybody's help.

McMaster Carr has the 5/16" x 18 Nut Certs for about $6.00 for a package of ten (10) McMaster-Carr They offer them in aluminum or yellow zinc chromate plated steel. I would assume the steel is what I want? Also, they offer the 5/16" x 18 for two different material thicknesses, .027 - .150 and...

I intend to change over to a manual system anyway. Sooner or later there will be hardly any cards left, and those will be an arm & a leg. The writing is on the wall.
OK folks, here's my first question -
Would it be possible to completely abandon the current instrument cluster for a new custom unit comprised of all new M38A3 gauges?
I can design and build a replacement gauge mounting face fabricated from 1/8" aluminum, correctly shaped and bent to fit...
Got the rebuilt tilt steering column from Wayne Wiles in Ft. Wayne, Indiana GM Tilt Steering Column / Contact Us . It was completely rebuilt with new ignition switch & key, horn contact, and turn signal switch. He furnished the rebuilt column with all black levers and correct wiper control...
Well, what started out as a simple hood replacement project has escalated into a full-blown frame-up rebuild. Not that my M1028 neeed it, because it is a rust-free Arizona National Guard truck with only 12,500 miles. But once I got started, I quickly and completely lost control of the...
I too am using the lift kits from ORD (Off Road Design) in Carbondale, CO Offroad Design - Fullsize Chevy GM 4x4 Suspensions, Parts and Performance . I have been lifting GM GM trucks since 1972 and can attest from experience that the folks at ORD are the industry leaders. Their rear shakle...
