    PTO Identification

No. It's much more involved than that. Just leave it like NDT suggested.

Why is a Deuce and 1/2 called this ?

Sadly this new generation has no idea what real punishment is. If you "offend them" they think your being mean and cruel ! I fear for the future of this country.

Definitive conclusions - Which rear axle is best to disable and how?

YES ! Exactly. All this talk about which axle to disable for better mileage is really just academic. Basically gets you nowhere. The whole geometry of the rear axle assembly is geared (no pun intended ! ) for both axles to work in tandem . That is why you cannot disable one without causing...

    Warn 83086 Snatch Blocks

Yeah, basically it is a 5/8" block, but I use a 1/2" line all the time with no ill effects. Of course the snatch blocks are all extremely expensive so better to fork out the dough and get the one you truly need. Good hunting !

    Warn 83086 Snatch Blocks

Since I own three of them, I can help you. It will hold 1/2" to 5/8" very comfortably. It can use 7/16" but it will be loose. You also can use 3/4" but it will be squeezed a bit. If your only going to use it infrequently then I would not be afraid to use either 7/16" or 3/4" wire rope in it.

    Power Steering Possibility?

I cannot find the pictures I posted here, but what I had done was replace the sector shaft bushing with a roller bearing. This allows you to carry a much heavier load which is needed especially if your going to be using taller tires. You would only need this if your hydraulics cut out for...

    Power Steering Possibility?

Good job. I have had all the parts to do mine for 5 years now. Just no time. I wished I had known how close you were to starting your project. I would have shared how I was doing mine. Welding up your shafts that way makes it pretty hard to service it. Also, you will find you will need to...

Why is a Deuce and 1/2 called this ?

OK, I'm a little uncertain how to take that last comment Guy. But knowing you I'm pretty sure it was not malicious.

Why is a Deuce and 1/2 called this ?

You do know that is NOT my actual photo right ? I was given that by "Another Ahab" as a "Memento/Award" for reading all the Deuce posts. Took me three years.

Why is a Deuce and 1/2 called this ?

Well I'm sure if you had asked my wife, she would have said I was looking like a Donkey !

Why is a Deuce and 1/2 called this ?

Actually I went in and had my beard shaved down to about an inch, and five inches cut off the back. I was looking like "Gandolph the Grey" what with my hair hanging down to my upper back and my beard hanging down to my chest ! Wife didn't want to be seen in public with me anymore ! She actually...

Yep, like I said earlier. We live in a litigious society . Watch your back !

    Just spit balling…brakes

I think you hit on one of the major concerns of the DOT people. Incorrectly installed parts. Who wouldn't agree that adding a dual brake system to an old single brake system isn't a good thing ? Added redundancy is great ! If installed incorrectly then it could be a potential bomb travelling...

    Totally agree with you.

    Just spit balling…brakes

Really there is no difference except a couple more tons of weight travelling down the road. Don't get me wrong. I plan on going to disc brakes when I can afford to, but the "powers that be" sometimes don't see things the way we do. Also if the party that gets hit if your in an accident has a...

    M35a2 Deuce NO START

That has worked for me in the past. Cussing loudly really does help too ! The faster you can get that engine to spin the higher the chance you will have of it firing on at least a couple of cylinders. The compression created from the faster spinning engine will help push the rings against the...

    Just spit balling…brakes

Yeah. We do live in a litigious society ! My son is thinking of taking Law in college now. Guess I'll need to stop telling that old joke about "10,000 lawyers on the bottom of the ocean" !

Less than 18 months and under 1,000 miles my axle boots failed.

There where a whole lot of "Bad" silicone axle boots from China a few years back. They would fail after just a few days ! Some would get a years worth of use, then failure. Supposedly there was some company making them here in the good old USA out of quality material. I cannot remember their...
