Uneventful.
Home and scrubbing it out. Contemplating a repaint.
SF97 says 1994. Data plate says 1957. Obviously the latter is correct.
It's in surprisingly good shape.
We've got a 2021 Gladiator. It feels enough like the HMMWV while driving it (and vice versa) that I've reached for controls in the wrong place while driving each of them.
The Gladiator has about twice the power and twice the tow rating. A higher reasonable cruising speed.
It's LOUD, with a...
Impulse bid in the neighboring state... i didn't recognize the city, but how far away could it be?
Now I know... It's ~500 miles each way.
Redtruck is down with an oil leak and a slipping clutch. So I loaded a spare and some tools and jumped in the gladiator yesterday afternoon and made a mad...
The Macks are generally considered rare and exotic and are more highly prized than their multifuel counterparts.
If you and Dennis end up making a deal that involves driving it from AZ to MO, let me know....Maybe I could provide a ride there and a chase vehicle back.
I'm 5 hrs from you.
I've got an M936A2 I'm in the process of swapping wheels and tires on, and an M818 that needs a t-case. Neither of these are for sale, but they'd give you a side by side comparison of cab dimensions.
The M818 isn't driveable. The M936A2 should be fine once I get wheels...

Large ratchet and 1.5" 6 point impact socket.
Two 20 ton bottle jacks.
Plenty of cribbing.
The geared wrench breaks them loose. The large ratchet spins them off. You need two jacks because you need...
Well, you outbid me to get it... i hope it's seized.
(I'm kidding! I simply ran out of risk tolerance. My guess says it went cheap because there were only four bidders total. One of them only threw the token opener at it. The next one was out at a nonserious ~$200. The only ones who "meant it"...
Having had deuces and 809series and 939series...
And having a strong preference for manual transmissions myself...
There's really a lot to be said for the bigger cab and full airbrakes on the 939s.
Drive both, before taking the plunge. There's no urgency...
Same exact trailer with same exact springs. The only difference is the number on the data plate.
The difference in load capacity is a mere contrived difference, not an actual one.
The farmers in this area use 5ton cargo trucks for silage trucks. I had one a while back who needed a couple of 14.00R20s urgently, so I allowed myself to be talked into pulling a couple off my M936A2.
So my wrecker has been sitting on its outriggers for quite some time.
16.00s will lose...
