Friend in Texas? Do you mean the blonde in the other thread? She's from Kentucky. Just a friend, known her for a few years, real sweatheart. Good ol' country girl. Just happened to fit the redneck/blonde conversation very well!

I guess I'll just have to see how this works out for me. Like you said, all personal preference.
Thanks for the input, if it ends up looking like crap I'll know who I shoulda listened to!<img...
Hehehehe. Once I get the deuce painted up purty I might swing her way and try to get some pictures for the upcoming gallery! (right SS? *wink wink nudge nudge*) Good friend of mine from KY. (who would probably kill me for posting that, hehehehehe).
I believe rednecks WITH blondes have the MOST fun!

Well, as far as brushing being more accurate, I'll put it this way: my dad was in the Army at about the same time period as we are painting, and told me what he saw were mostly brush jobs.
And that is really what I'd like to do: make it look like the typical in-service truck of that era. Which...
Just curious, what are anyone's oppinions on spraying versus brushing for painting a deuce? I'm almost thinking that spraying might be easier, but given the time period ('71), I know that brushing would be more accurate, and might not be that hard. Any suggestions, experiences, etc?
Right now...
Well, today was just as gorgeous and just as productive as I hoped it would be! I made MUCHO progress on the restoration job. I got quite a bit of the front of the truck sanded, primered and ready to paint! Still lots o' work, but it sure feels good to be able to take some steps forward every...
Actually we're looking to use it for an HF unit. My dad's a commo guy with the Civil Air Patrol, he's got a dipole set up at his office right now, but with this antenna we should be able to make his HF unit mobile. We just need to find out the antenna length we should have (getting that from...
Lesson for today: Google google google!

Page 16 shows a picture of the rig we've got. Not bad for $50, eh?
Army Radio Sales Co. carries the VIC-1 vehicle intercom used in the Deuce, I'm hoping to pick one up one of these days. Don't know myself about the radio, but I'd imagine if you got ahold of them they would be able to steer you in the right direction.

Ok, so this isn't directly MV related, but I have a question about an antenna.
My dad recently purchased an army surplus antenna setup from a garage sale. It was very complete and is in very good shape, including it's own carrying bag. It has a number of aluminum tubes, each about 1.5"D and...
He's teasing us all, that truck is gorgeous!

Heh, good point, I had forgotten about that. But really what I was thinking of was for something on the main site, an "Articles" section so to speak. In the meantime, though, it will definitely go in the tips and tricks section! ;)
Heheh. I knew that one was coming, too! And of course I don't need them when I put it down. BUT it would be nice to not have to take off and re-attach the hose every time I put the windshield down and up.
