(the famous were this my problem answer... :-))
1. I'd consider trying the following: The injection pump is gravity fed, I'd rig up a temporary fuel tank and see if it keeps running. I'm going to say that I think it will stall. I know you checked the check-ball but did you check all the fuel...
What is the oil pressure gauge reading? You must hold the start/run switch in the start position until you both have oil pressure, and the unit is generating power (the volt and frequency meters register approximately the correct values, they may be off by a bit.)
It sounds like you don't have...
Yea, for some reason they did clip those to prevent a breaker installation there. I have no idea why, but clearly they intended that space not be used for a breaker.
I would think that rubber insulation might present a fire hazard, while the fiber board is basically fire proof. I think you can get the fiber board from most any HVAC shop that builds ducts, or perhaps a place that sells HVAC supplies or even maybe Grainger? :-D
It is not as simple as that... Issues include bonded neutral and if the generator is permanently connected or is not permanently connected. Regardless, it is not an error to ground with a grounding rod, the error is to not ground and then something happens and the generator chassis becomes...
Possibly either low compression in one cylinder or an injector/injection pump problem? Color of smoke (white/gray/black?)
A video might help diagnose this, can you shoot one?
My 2cents
I have two of these transfer switch boxes for my setup.
1. I would be leery of running a 25 amp load on those breakers. They are marginal at best, I've seen them fail when abused.
2. No, you cannot bridge, but you could buy another one and run two boxes. I did that in my...
Just a thought...
Pull of the sending unit and see if there are some adjusting potentiometers on the back (may be two.) Note their setting, and with a screwdriver swing each adjustment from minimum to maximum a few times, and stop where they were previously set. That may resolve the problem...
You will need to run for a while, with a load, to get the temperature up much. The engine and cooling system is a bit too efficient, IMHO! It is possible, however, you have a stuck open thermostat. It is located at the upper radiator hose attachment on the engine. Run the set for about 20...
1. Adjust the volts knob to read about 208. That should be confirmed with a known accurate voltmeter as well.
2. The frequency knob on a MEP-004 does nothing. It is not connected. You adjust frequency with the throttle knob (below and right of the instrument panel). My initial setting is for...
Sorry, brain fart on that one. I'm not sure what I was looking at when I made that comment! Don't worry about the ether start can--I've never used mine and suspect I won't need it. (At least I hope so!)
I'll see if I have one, but I don't think so. Fuel selector valve... Humm, something doesn't look quite right there. The hose clamp is for the ether start bottle which is missing--these are common and can be bought at better parts houses, or online.
Canada uses 60 HZ the same as the United Sates. All of North and Central America is 60 HZ, though voltages do vary somewhat when going south. The US and Canadian power grids are interconnected.
Yes, what coils did you measure? The ones in the rotor (input), or the stator (output)? As Speddmon mentions, they are difficult to measure the resistance of. Only easy test is for shorts to ground (all windings are isolated with respect to ground, but you still have to follow the exact...
When doing tests such as diode checks, you must use the exact meter specified. Some meters reverse the lead polarity in the ohms (ohms have no polarity, but diodes do, and meters do...) So it is possible that the reading is opposite from what the manual says it should be.
For a diode test, low...
If your research project is to compare different fuels, then you must do that comparison--not rely on design or specified fuel consumption numbers. If one of my students came to me and presented a comparison based on book values to alternative fuel values, I'd make him do it properly.
