Pimp my ride - MV style...or lack thereof...

I think a dually wheeled Edsel dump truck would be more appealing. Any bets on whether the tires are "Z rated Run Flats?" The Volkswagen commercial from early last year would come in handy here. The one where the German scientist drops something like a '57 International Harverster combine on...

Pimp my ride - MV style...or lack thereof...

This unit is an excellent example of why there are no life guards at the gene pool.

    Napa Radiator Hoses

I grew up with a cranky guy like that. His reading glasses were a permanent fixture and his neck bones were fused with a 10 degree tilt to his head so he could look at the parts catalog and then glare back at you across the counter. Then when he couldn't find what he wanted in the catalog, he'd...

    Napa Radiator Hoses

The Napa guy is telling me that the napa part numbers listed for upper and lower radiator hoses on the parts cross over listing are no good. Anybody have any ideas?

    gsrvsdv

Take it from a Chevrolet Service Manager... NO WAY. Both combinations are fine for a light duty application, but not a deuce. Everything inside a 6.2 is too weak. A 6.5 turbo diesel would be a better bet but the 700R4 transmission would never hold up. The best combo would be the 6.6 Duramax with...

    Jumping out of gear

Dr. Strangelove is right about the cause. However, trying to keep it from popping out by holding the shifter in is only going to further the damage. If you are capable of holding it and suffering the pops it is going to stress everything in the trans plus u-joints. If you don't fix the trans...

    Throttle return spring

With all the conversation about broken return springs... I want to take a spare with me to pick up the duece. What is everybody using for a replacement?

    Correct Batteries

I am planning on taking the digital camera to chronicle the event(s) as they unfold. I will post them as soon as I get back.

    Correct Batteries

In anticipation of going after my deuce (waiting on paperwork to clear) I called my Interstate battery rep. and told him I needed a pair of 6TL's and he said "I know exactly what you're talking about. He sent over 2 brand new shinney units and they are labeled "U6TL". Anybody have any input if...

    Help Needed

Make sure to tell him to take all the drive belts off the engine before trying to turn it by the crank. I have seen many engines that folks thought were locked up only to have a alternator/generator or other component that was locked up and the belt stopped the engine.

waste oil/waste trans fluid mix for Deuce use

Does anyone have experience mixing waste oil or transmission fluid with diesel and using as fuel for multi-fuel engines? If so, what %'s are you finding acceptable?

Approaching Freight Lines for Gasoline/Diesel Mix

Working for a dealer service center, I can tell you that they sell all their waste to a recycler. The recycler then usually sells it to an asphalt company which turns it into black top for somebodies new road. I do know that a lot of these big carriers blend waste oil with their diesel fuel and...

Whats the scoop on dumps in Mississippi and more trucks LA

I have worked on a lot of flood vehicles. I recently had privy to a contract with the post office to refurbish flood mail trucks from La. They wanted to drain all the fluids, replace the ECM (computer) and pressure wash the entire vehicle inside and out due to contamination from the flood...

    Driving it home

It's at Fort Bragg N.C. and I'm just north of Atlanta. That is very nice of you to offer help. Currently, I'm in the pinball machine waiting on approval of the End of Use certificate. If someone can spare the time, I'd still like to know where the fuel pump fuse is and what type it is. Thanks,

    Driving it home

What type of 2 amp fuse is it? The old round bus fuse or something different? Is that fuse in a block under the dash or is there a fuse panel somewhere else? Are the batteries the 12 volt RV size? I did find a couple of other posts and have gotten some good tips from those. I will definitely...

    Driving it home

I bought a deuce thru GL and am planning on going to pick it up and drive it home. I have all the filter numbers but I'm thinking about taking a couple of batteries. What do I need? Also, what brake fluid am I likely to find? It looks like according to some of the specs there could be a couple...
