    M1009 Exhaust

I know my Blazer is noisey; but I assume it is generally from the engine and road noise/tires. Is the stock exhaust noisey? Could it stand to be quieted with better mufflers? Hmmm.

24 volt "Ford" type remote starter solenoid

After looking for a suitable answer for me and my starter woes, I am considering this modification. After looking at the problem with the starters I have been burning out I would rather take a small risk and try this as a fix. It does not solve the problem I have been having in terms of why my...

    VIC 1 in the M37

I went thru the schematic and built a test cable. Sorry to say this will not work. I am supplying the 12volts to the A/B and trying to get the speaker to work per the second diagram. No good. I have tried other combination; but no speaker sounds. Perhaps only 24volts can be used. I followed...

    M1009 1 Person Top Remover

Looks like it would do the job nicely. Do you have a garage or shed or barn with a rafter and a pulley- nothing to build

24 volt "Ford" type remote starter solenoid

Several minor things have NOT been touched on. OK, I'll go where I need to go to get it running right without hacking at it. 1) STARTER BOLTS - you ARE USING NEW OEM STARTER BOLTS, right? - they stretch when tightened down to spec with a torque wrench. NO. I have been using the original ones...

24 volt "Ford" type remote starter solenoid

eparsrman, thanks, I bow to your Ford Expertise. I have inspected the Flexplate while replaceing the starter. There is no leak what-so-ever. I have noticed on two starters that failed so far: 1. Starter throw-out gear engaged the flexplate; but only the shaft was spinning. It had worked...

    Introducing Smokey

Dude, you need one of these: Found under the rear seat on a 72 cougar while scrounging up a seat belt at the wrecking yard.

24 volt "Ford" type remote starter solenoid

eparsman, by hi torque do you mean Direct Drive? Because that is what I am getting from Dstang97- going back to the Direct Drive 24volt MT27. Do you have a specific Starter number? I have right now a Wilson that is heavy duty, Gear Reduction built like a brick outhouse. It is my second one, why...

24 volt "Ford" type remote starter solenoid

G, I have checked the grounds. In fact I added another grounf from the starter to the chassis. I know there is a problem with the system the way it is now; but I have looked at most every inch of the wire involved as well as all the components on the circuit, to include: 4 24 volt starters 2...

    Where's Your License Plate?

Here's where mine is now: After running wire to thru the tubing- tapped-in from the rear running light, I added a piece of square tubing to the back of the plate with some JB Weld. It slips over the end of the tire mount tube and a hole was drilled thru both pieces. I added a 3/8" Spare tire...

24 volt "Ford" type remote starter solenoid

Have been looking for answers to my starter problem and ran across the articles on installing a solenoid on the firewall to fire the starter. Seem there is a simple way to jump the "s" post to the Battery post on the solenoid then put the Ford type solenoid on the firewall- like Ford...

    Why so many start issues?

dstang97, I highly doubt it is your battery cables. Have you put a meter on it? I think it's just bad starters. Not yet its been pouring and snowing the last 72 hours. I will check the cable though. I just thought I better replace the one that goes to the starter and the one that connects the...

    Why so many start issues?

Man the welding cable seems to run from about $1.79/ft to about $5/foot. Anyone got a line on what is the best kind? It seems like some of the 2g cable is more pliable. What kind do I need. Where can I get it at a good price.

    Starter Disengages after 2 seconds

Starter shim...Or maybe the starter nose cone needs tweaking so that the starter sits completely flush. Other threads discuss this.

    Why so many start issues?

All the battery cables need to be replaced or just the one between the two batteries and the one that runs to the starter?

What's the best step for the M1009?

I have these right now- picked em off a truck at the wrecking yard cleaned and painted Drab Brown. I don't like it because as I pivot into the seat my foots gets torqued between the supports. I found this pair at the yard also. It's a better design as it allows any angle without binding.

    Why so many start issues?

So far I have heard that the resistance in the battery cables may be the culprit because they may lead me to longer start times, meaning more contact abuse in the starter or starter solenoid, which as we all know is sealed and not easily diagnosed. As far as this problem goes I guess ideally we...

    Why so many start issues?

There was a 12v Delco in the first time it started doing this (bought the Blazer this way). I replaced it with a caltric from ebay. It was a gear Reduction model. It started to act up the same way, with intermittent failures so I ordered a Wilson 28MT to replace it. A few months later it went...

    Why so many start issues?

I have to revive my post of 9/20/11 as yesterday I drove from Portland to Eugene and got a no start situation. I had to be towed home $500! I have a 28MT starter that has been running fine on my daily driver M1009. I had already done the Doghead mod long ago. I carry a spare relay so I changed...
