    Tire question and wheel question.

By rough measurement of the rims/tires I took off my 1101, the offset is about 2.5". No clue on the Military OZ. Mine have that as well. The common civilian rim substitution is early 2000s Chevy, Ford or Dodge 3/4 ton PU rims. Sometime in the later 2000's they switched to metric...

    castle nut torque on m1101?

The TM for the 101A1 says to tighten until it begins to bind. I take bind to be if the wheel spins 5 times while loose, it will spin 4 times after you tighten it. Then back off according to the TM. Don't do what the last person did on one side of my 101. I think their last name was Hercules...

Dietz Model 32 Road Flare / "smudge pot"

Here are some of the ones I have. As far as the carbon issue, yep, pretty much nature of the beast. A stiff piece of wire or otherwise retired screwdriver works well to clean them off. That carbon rates very high on the stain o meter.

Dietz Model 32 Road Flare / "smudge pot"

I have various ones that I found in the town dump in the early 70's. Back when they were public town dumps and not EPA certified landfills. Mine are mostly like the round ones in the older Road Runner cartoons. The kerosene does wick out when not in use. Might want to try some of the...

Another Ft. Sill M1101 finds a new home

I found mine here: http://www.eriksmilitarysurplus.com/rushcoq10ms2.html They also had the 1156 and 67 bulbs for cheaper than the local auto stores. The 'sex' of the connector varies depending on if you refer to the rubber shell or the electrical connector. The ones pictured are male for the...

Another Ft. Sill M1101 finds a new home

Here is a picture of the flat four wiring harness I made up. For my PU, I needed about 8.5 feet of cable which does leave some spare just in case. And a shot of it connected under the trailer. After reading on this site about Dot3/Dot5 brake fluid, I did a test of what I had in the trailer...

Another Ft. Sill M1101 finds a new home

Picked up my M1101 from Ft. Sill on the 28th. The GL lady was very helpful and the paperwork only took a couple of minutes. She has too much fun driving the forklift but is very good with it. No EUC needed on this one. The tires had less than 10lbs but a portable air tank had them up to...

    lug nut pattern help

These guys might have something if their powerwagon wheel fits. http://www.stocktonwheel.com/heavy_duty.html Haven't called them yet as my 101a1 came with a spare although the 4-66 date code makes me a bit wary of it. The two mounted tires looked brand new when I picked it up, still had the...

    M1102 Bulb Question

I think the military dual filament is for redundancy. The bulb will still work if one filament fails. The civy 12v equivalent doesn't have the dual filament backup. #1 No, they don't need to be dual filament. Just made the same swap on my 101a1. It came with the later model 4 function...

    My M101A3...new to MV

A few things to consider: 1. The trailer safety chains may be too short to hook to your truck. Might take some extra chain just in case. 2. Might want to pickup a set of magnetic trailer lights. Trailer electrical changes often involve unplanned hard to find problems. 3. Even if you...

    Towing a M101A2

If your Murano is like my Ford Escape, the 3500lb tow limit comes with a 350lb tongue limit. If the A2 has the same safety chains as an A1, they will likely be too short. May want to take some extra chain just in case.
