I love mine too but it has way too many creature comforts(heat, automatic transmission, roof) so I am letting it go to make room in my drive way for a deuce and then work my way up (in cost not size) to an M38 or M38a1. At that point I will probably start to miss my little '09 and buy another...
When I am on the expressway I like to run my 1009 at about 60. I know it will go faster but it makes quite the difference in fuel economy. If you run it at 60 you will never have to fill the tank!
I love it! The only problem is if they ever built a full sized one those rolling landings may be a little more nauseating than "easy". It could make commercial air travel a little more interesting though and maybe the pilots would stop falling asleep in the cockpit if they were flying something...
you are going to have to take out a second mortgage for the gas. My uncle has a '72 stingray with a 454 and that thing won't break 10mpg if it is rolling down a hill with a strong tail wind.
Be weary of the 12v conversions. People usually don't do them right. I held out for one that still had the original 24v so I would not have to put up with the headache of fixing the mess someone else made.
I had a CJ7 sit for 7 years without doing anything. just charged the battery and she fired right and ran like it had just been parked that day. God bless cars without computers.
