A fellow Floridian! I drive mine daily and have only had one serious poblem since I have had my M1008. The starter hung up on me and it was traced to the starter relay/solenoid which is in the dash right where the radio opening is. After I replaced the solenoid and installed a faill-safe...
Regarding the tilt column, is there any difference in the wiring from the one that comes in the M1008 and one that would come out of a 1989 GMC Jimmy? Thinking about putting a tilt in my CUCV but did not want to run into different wiring! Thanks!
Error message keeps popping up
I have been trying to get my VTM to accept my M1008 as the vehicle being tested and can only get as far as the first two steps of the "confidence course", then I get the following readouts: 5337; 5338; 0.0; 5.5; C035 and I even got one error message E023 which...
RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Howdy From the Nose Art Chick.
Ha! Ha! That's pretty funny! I'll check out the map now that I finally found it. I live on the east coast but my son lives over in Lutz. It's good to see new members from the Sunshine State once in a while! One of these times I hope to get...

A link to and active auction for an STE/ICE unit
Thank you 319 so much for that information! That's probably the key to using this thing! I have a feeling a person could expand the use of the STE/ICE for civilian vehicles to do simple voltage, oil pressure and other similar tests without difficulty. I am amazed that the test set that I got...
Ken, Hello from West Melbourne Florida! I just bought an STE/ICE set and have an M1008. I am trying to figure out how to work this thing now! I am slowly working my way through the TM that came with the set and somewhere I found where you have to use a "code" to identify the vehicle you are...
Thank you so much for the info! Half of the work is already done with the CUCV having the lifting lugs in place so modifying a good towbar is all that's left to do. Hope you enjoy your M1008 as much as I enjoy mine!
I'll check out your photo album and that's probably how I will go. Three of the rims & tires that I got had runflats inside plus they had the stock valve stems so all I wound up buying was the fitting with the inflator valve inside which was quite reasonable. I was really happy to borrow that...
Awesome reply! Thanks for the info! Really looking forward to the STE/ICE test set now! I am working with the guy who sells Hummer stuff for all of my H1 rim needs. I am trying to better my fuel economy first of all and top speed second so the tires will mean everything at that point. I...
CCATLETT1984, did you get in on the STE/ICE kits that Fred was selling by chance? Mine is due to arrive on Monday and I am hoping it has the capability to show engine RPM via the large connector under the dash. Also, if I wanted to cruise at 70 mph all day long with the 456 gears, what size...
Well rfischba1, my M1008 is in third gear by the time I hit 25 miles a hour if that's any help. Count the number of times it shifts or go through the gears manually - you just might have a defect in your transmission where it never shifts into third gear.
I never take my M1008 above 55 mph because I am afraid of destroying the motor. Is it okay to exceed 55 mph on a regular basis? I really want to get a tach for the 6.2 to be sure I never exceed red line. Just bought one of those STE/ICE units from Fred and hoping it will have a tachometer...
That's an amazing looking M1009! Makes me want one really bad! I have three full size K5's that have factory air and one has the removable hard top with the sliding glass and wing vents for the "back seaters". One of my K5's has a spare tire setup that came from the factory and hooks onto the...
