    Ranking System Question

I notice that Freighttrain is "Banned". ?? I'm sure for good reason! ;) C

wiring a deuce for a 12 volt trailer

To address your question specifically, a 24-12V converter would be used to put 12V to the back of the truck such that it would draw from both batts rather than just one. That would then actuate to the civi trailer connector via three 24V relays for Left stop/turn, Right stop/turn, and tail...

5th gear out! Im Looking for a transmision part!

Ok, I attached a pic... The forward synchro is the 4-5 synchro... If you can shift into and out of 4th gear, then the fork is engaged with the synchro, and should be shifting the synchro into 5th as well... Note that there is a counter gear on the lower (counter) shaft, meshing with the...

    Tire problem

I know chaining a tire is good for inflation, but there's no danger of the thing blowing while you're chaining it in that case... NO WAY would I mess around trying to chain an inflated tire with a damaged ring, just so I could deflate it... Just get a clip on chuck, reach in there ONE TIME...

    Winch rebuild problem...help

Ditto the chisel and hammer. I had to do some filing to straighten it back out so it would fit in again though... Mine were definitely stuck in the shaft good...

ok i need help pleese... pissing me off!

I'll second the notion that if your flexplate starter ring has broken or missing teeth, the force of the starter jumping can crack the nose of the thing. It'll keep doing that untill you replace the flexplate. Weren't you going to do that anyway??? It's overdue now. I have one you can...

Sept. 13th Silver Lake, MI. MV show

How about 2009?? Haven't seen anything about the 4th annual event yet... Is there going to be one? I see Dave's Deuce and M37 at the shop everytime I go there... Nice trucks! (Of course, I have a wedding to go to the weekend of Apple-fest...) :-( Chris

Where can I find the Military FC-Jeep based truck on this forum?

One of my friends has a military crew cab FC170 with the diesel engine. I don't know what he paid for it, but if you'd like, I can chat with him tonight and see if he's interested in selling. If he is, I'll PM you his contact info... It's pretty complete looking, and I think it was running...

    New deuce wheel

Are those the wheels that usually come on the four wheeled hydraulic wagon-cart things that I keep seeing on GL?? They're never duals, and so wouldn't need the holes for air, but I assume they haul something heavy, so the wheels might need to be stronger??? C

I am looking into removing the govenor!

Don't let everyone discourage you... My M35 with a recent new engine is way down on power compared to some... I have a pyro and a boost guage and I'm going to start turning up the fuel and watching EGT's. If yours is set a bit cool to begin with, you might be able to get a noticably more...

    So how important are these?

Yeah, your last post is close to correct motormayhem... Really the spacer isn't there so the crossmember can move, but rather so that if it does move a little, the bolts don't loosen up. If you use a short bolt, even torqued, it doesn't take much relative movement to lessend the clamp load...

Ip timming mark questions Engine bump

5th gear is your best bet, and transfer in N is between high and low... Chomp down a can of spinach and try harder!! :)

Has anyone ever pulled throttle instead of engine stop?

Been there, done that. I've learned, so it hasn't happened in a while now. Gets you a lot of looks... :)

    m1008 drive shaft

I just looked 'cause I need one too... You must be a better ebay searcher than me... I found NONE that would work for a 1008... BTW, I don't think CIVY 1-tons came with a 208 in the mid-80's... The parts store lists only a 205 for 1-ton, but I tell them it's a 3/4 ton and there it is...

Let's Discuss Ways to Increase Power Output

Opcom, what "special tools" are you referring to??? Admittedly, my helper was "special", but he's no tool!! :) Really, I pulled the trans apart in truck with zero special tools... Well, I did have to pull the rear output bearing off with a puller, but I got it in a set of three at China...

does this look right to you?

Yeah, I got a deuce from Mechanicsburg that didn't have a top on it either... when they started it to drive it over to the trailer (Mind you it was a "does not run" truck) it wouldn't idle at less than about 1700 rpm... Luckily, it was just a rusty linkage down on the IP. I shot it with WD...

    Pick Up Turned Truck

I saw some reference to this project in a crane thread... Looks really nice!!! The stepside long box looks AWESOME!!! I've only seen one other 80's longbox that was a stepside. I really like the black painted alum wheels too! I have an extra set of those that are going to get that...

    Double Towing?

I'd say it's a no go too... if the scion weighed a lot less than a 105, or the 105 was heavier and shorter rear overhang, I'd think about it, but a tow bar vehicle does tend to push the towing vehicle around some, and I just don't think a 105 would hold it still... As for doubles, they...

    Blazer Chalet / truck camper

Chalet blazers are pretty hard to find... There's good info on them on the web, but I've only seen one personally, headed the other way on a pass road in Colorado. No reason the camper unit wouldn't plop into a 1009 if you could find one. (That's a nice one in the pic!!) The only...

    huge grayling deuce auction

So I'm heading south from my week in the UP today, and about Grayling I start thinking about my deuce, and how I should have brought it down with me this trip... Then I can actually smell it, and I'm thinking how cool is that that my brain is fooling itself like that... Then the guy in the...
