Any electricians out there?? 120/240 Circuits Question

This article may help understand where the NEC shifted the burden from thier code to the manufacturers. https://www.howtolookatahouse.com/Blog/Entries/2018/6/what-is-the-maximum-number-of-circuit-breakers-allowed-in-an-electric-panel.html You'll need to find the ratings for that specific load...

    Wire Source to 60A service?

Sure, Type W is higher current rated but depending on the length the controlling issue will be voltage drop and not current capacity. You'll want to consider both in your installation.

Couple of questions on a MEP831a

I have an off-grid property with a camping cabin. There is a mini-split heatpump that the 831 runs beautifully. At my main home I have one of the inverter based window AC units that runs off solar power. There is no starting inrush with either of them. If you choose the correct equipment you...

Couple of questions on a MEP831a

Virtually zero chance of success of it starting the compressor. It may run the fan but thats it. The 831 can't handle a lot of inrush. The inverter will trip out on overload. MEP802 at a minimum. One of those will start my 3T unit.

Need Assistance Identifying Onan Diesel Model

That is the civilian version of the engine that is on the MEP002.

    First start of a MEP-002, do's and don'ts?

Ha! You got me there. :D

    First start of a MEP-002, do's and don'ts?

If I get one that I've not seen before I do a few things. 1. I disconnect the fuel line upstream of the pump and put it in a small container of fresh fuel. Disconnect the fuel return line and put it in a separate container. 2. check the oil and see if it looks OK. It it doesn't have any obvious...

MEP003A glow plug conversion to 12Volt

Wouldn’t it be better to run the 12v glow plugs in a series setup? Two in series and the two pairs in parallel? keeps everything 24v from the supply.

    MEP-016D

My MEP831 starts my 3/4 hp well pump. I was concerned that the inrush would trip out the inverter on OL but it doens't. I expect with a conventional generator you'll have no problem running your well.

Making stationary engines more efficient when loads are reduced

A soft start is a viable option. I suggest looking around because you may be surprised that a VFD can be less costly than a soft start due to how ubiquitous VFDs have become.

Making stationary engines more efficient when loads are reduced

Power output is a function of fuel quantity. The engines commonly found on these generators are not of a type that can alter timing on the fly. To be honest these constant speed engines will last longer than variable speed. Its not unheard of for the LP engines on the MEP802 and MEP803 to last...

MEP-804B - New to me, I have a few questions

Nope, doesn't matter. You can pull all single phase loads off of a 3 phase panel without a problem. In industry that is done all the time. Panels that are dedicated to lighting circuits are all single phase loads even though the panel itself is 3 phase. Don't overthink the balancing too much...

Weak air intake on an MEP-803A

+1, you likely have a valve leak. If you can pull the injectors you can do a pseudo leak-down test by blowing air into the injector hole and see where the air comes out. Obvioulsy with the cylinder to TDC of the compression stroke.
