Ok, here goes. At this point in my life I shift at a reasonable speed and rpm. I usually start out in 2nd when empty.
But in Nam we ran hard and split shifted on the run frequently without consequences?
What model of 5 Ton do you have? I have a 5 Ton 1968 Kaiser dump with multifuel. I see Beastmater uses his dump to plow. They put 2 different transmissions in the 5 tons. 1 low geared and the other with a higher ratio. Mine is low therefore 45 mph is top speed at a safe rpm. Depending on when...
Ok, thanks guys.
I read the link and changing the entire unit appears the easiest choice. Fortunately I have a parts truck with an air shift transfer.
Again, thanks for the help.
Got the paper yesterday. Sure enough we made the front page. Of the 3 deuces mine was posted on the front page. Probably due to the very large american flag flying way above the troop racks.
I think I know the place. Moved from Independence, Mo to NM. Traveled the I-70 corridor alot. One of my deuces has they same turn signal indicator. I like it real well. I suspect they are late replacements.
Anyone interested in a class action suit? I can arrange an attorney who will take the case on a contingency?
Not sure how many we require, but if the initial response is productive then we have a good chance.
PM me with your name and how much money you lost in the transaction. When it ocurred...
I have TM 9-2320-361-24-1. I have an M109A3 with non air shift transfer. Would like to change to air shift. My question is are the internals of the transfer cases the same and do I only need to add the front axle engagement air cylinder mechanism to make the conversion. Other than the dash...
Ok, thanks G.
Questions answered. I am just getting around on this site, it is all a learning experience for me. I just drove the things in Nam. Now I have to work on them.
I see the valve stem has been relocated from the original location. The wheels will be one of the 1st improvements on my...
I have read every thread posted on this topic and now have a question. I have six MVs with mulifuel engines. And 4 spare engines
Why do these engines not get a million miles or even half that? Is it really the oil filtration or oil pressure lag time issue?
Very nicely done. 3 of us did the parade here with banners and flags flying. Alamogordo, NM is made up of military retirees or current active duty as well as alot of German military. Therefore many onlookers were at attention as we passed with either hands over the heart or saluting. Made us...
Truly righteous looking. What is the cost of a wheel? Is the center section flat or dished?
Is the offset of the wheels the same front and rear? That is can they be switched?
RE: Re: RE: Bringing out the deuce for the 4th.
In addition. The ring mount reminds me of our gun truck "The War Wagon" with a 50 ring mount and 50 on a pedistal in the rear. 3 layers of sand bads with armour all round. We only had about a dozen trucks, but we always led convoys. We were a...
RE: Re: RE: Bringing out the deuce for the 4th.
He is not the only one that caught that bridge plate year. I had the gut feeling you were a Marine before reading your info. Love the 50 ring mount. My daughter showd me the first pictrue she saw of me which was early 68 standing in front of one...
I have made 2 long trips in 2 different deuces. Both around 1200 mi. I was getting 12-13 mph avg. On the road keep the tires aired to 50 psi.
The next long trip at 1600 mi in an M109A3 without air shift transfer. Mileage was terrible. Probably 6-8. Putting an air shift transfer will be the 1st...
Would love to, but you are just a tad further than I care to drive a deuce. Tell all the Nam vets, WELCOME HOME.
I drove for 5th Motors attached permantly to 1st Mar Div and also supported 5th Mar Div-68-69
Great score man.
I must be an early M35. Perhaps early to mid 60's?
What tires are on the front. We folks here are having difficulty obtaining good tires. We are attemtping to get away from the military NDC but not those tall Mich tires. Trying to stay as military looking as possible, but a...
