How does it sound when its working sound like a normal starter,if not shims. It is a shot in the dark how many but if I remember there should be at least 1 thick one,then you just and and remove till the starter sounds normal. John

Is the rear bracket there it bolts to the block and the back of the starter. The weight of those starters needs that bracket. I have seen alot of cracked nose cones and that seams to be the problem. Like said above pull the cover off and look at the whole gear,you can spin it with a large...

You just have to wish that some of the parts could be taken off. I know were to get just any part for them NOS or used but to go out and just take what you want. If I could find parts cheaper I would build another. John

They wanted the oil to drain back to aid in cold weather starting, :roll:, Not sure if that was the greatest thing o do but it worked.
