    charging issues...

Off topic warning It is my belief that most low miles / low hours items surplussed out are low miles / low hours precisely because they have issues. Most not all, there are always exceptions. I now return you to your regularly scheduled lack of power to the gen 2 lamp.

    Leaking fuel filter assembly

Sometimes the base cracks and needs to be replaced. Others install a spin on filter housing rather than hassle with finding a good used or NOS base.

    M1009 Starting troubles

If you pull a glow plug and measure it with an ohm meter and it is open it needs to be replaced. By a set of 8 and replace all of them then any old ones that measure okay keep for emergency spares. I recommend AC 60G glow plugs with new terminals on the wires but you can grind the spade down...

84 lost power last night And now won't stay running

Did the filter change cure the water in fuel light? There is a sensor in the fuel filter base that is used for the ICE system. Other members have reported them as source of air and have removed the sensor and plugged it with a pipe plug. Also the stock fuel filter base can crack and let air...

    CB and a AS3916

Depends. :) The idea is to make the antenna resonant at the chosen transmit frequency. You can either change the physical characteristics of the antenna to make it resonant of you can change the electrical characteristics to make it resonant (at least as the transmitter sees it). The point is...

    CB and a AS3916

MX6707 Base can be tuned to work with a CB. I retuned mine to work 6-meters. http://www.steelsoldiers.com/cucv/57848-6707-antenna-base.html#post671872 Connect the BnC connector to your CB antenna port with some RG-58. You can always put an antenna tuner between the CV and the antenna.

    m1028 charging issues

The driver's alternator charges the front battery that runs everything in the truck. The passenger side alternator charges the back battery that is only used to make the full 24V for the starter and glow plugs. Originally both alternators were isolated ground. Technically the drivers side...

MEP-002A and MEP-003A Replacement Oil Pressure Switch

Shortly after starting this thread I ordered a "Hobbs part number M4008 15 NO. This Switch is a NOS unit I purchased from the large online auction site for $20.26 delivered. I finally installed it today. The generator started and ran without issue. I put a 1500 watt heater on one of the 240V...

    Pyle 24V to 12V converter

Did you scrape the the paint to get the terminal to bare metal, or install a hardened tooth lock washer between the terminal and the dash to get a good electrical connection? I have had good luck with self drilling screws and toothed lock washers.

    m1028 charging issues

Was it converted to 12V? How are the two batteries wired? Back battery negative post tied to front battery negative post or back battery negative post tied to front battery positive post? I thought marine batteries were designed for deep cycle use with occasional starting whereas automotive...

Do glowplugs make any noise when they go bad?

No noise. From the TM 9-2320-289-20 manual: CAUTION Do not leave key in "RUN” position for more than 2 minutes. Failure to follow this caution may resuit in damage to glow plugs.

    Pyle 24V to 12V converter

I can't say what Pyle needs but it seems to me that the 12V and 24V ground should be the same. Most 12V equipment is negative ground meaning the negative input is bonded (connected) to the equipment housing somewhere inside the equipment so that when it bolts to the vehicle chassis the...
