HOLY Moses! Those are some beefy looking Cactus Crunchers. Speaking of Beefy. Is that leftover hair/meat on screw pin shackle from 50mph Holstein Interface? Might as well put bumpers w/winches on sides also. I think its trick! Did you make plans that you can share?
epartsman,
Nobody else chimed in. I take it from your send. DO NOT go with 33's on stock elevation M1009? Was so hoping to fill wheel wells a little. Seems like plenty of room. Oh well, back to more serious issues.:driver:
Many differing opions here. With tire branding that is no surprise. Funny nobody mentioed Goodyear Wrangler AT/S? Is that not the tire that the military ran on the CUCV's?
Secondly, seems that most rave over BFG TA/KO 33's. Want to keep mine stock elevation. Any clearance problems offroad with...
Not to take away from initial pupose of thread. Forgive me if this is stupid question. I to am new to CUCV chargeing system.
There is no tachometer on my M1009. What is the purpose of Tach connection on CUCV Alternators?:cookoo:
Outstanding Post! Wealth of information for all.
With lubricant quality the way it is today. Gather we can get more miles out of Motor Oil. Otherwise we are just dumping oil that is still fine. That being said. Is changing crankcase oil at 5k miles and beyond acceptable on CUCV Diesels...
I like the idea of shorter belts. Shorter means less potential for belt deviation during operation. Need to go get lisle tool and shorter belts today! Tired of adjusting out slop every three months. Thanks for valuable information SS.:driver:
Does anyone know resistance tolerances for Rotor and Stator on CUCV Alternators? While I am in there. Might as well make sure they OHM out? Just a thought. DMLII sends...
Glad you like it. Have learned much. Kinda gone full circle. As Mudman stated earlier. Went to CUCV Electric and purchased Rebuild Kit. Should have gone that direction initially. Live and learn. Jarheads gotta do it their way. Still hope to get an off shelf for giggles. Local parts guy...
cucv1833,
Gen 1 is lit up big-time and volt meter is in over-charge zone when at cruising speeds? Hope to have behind me this weekend? Performed diagnostics as stated earlier in thread. All seemed to be fine. Will report back once Alternator replaced.
Hi CARNAC,
Purchased M1009 in Hemet California 9-2010. Was told came from Utah National Guard?
Vin # 1G8ED18J0GF138605

NSN # ?
UTAH NATIONAL GUARD?
BUMPER PASSENGER SIDE # UTES
BUMPER DRIVER SIDE # UO17
We all seem to feed off eachother. Otherwise we would probably be in deep kimchee! Thanks to all who have helped me! Back to beast to apply what I have learned here. DMLII sends respectfully:beer:
cucv1833, what does kit include? Lets face it the existing Alternators are probably original. Experience with motors tells me the Rotors are probably pretty worn out. Commutators should be way down by now. Afraid kit will not consist of major components? Just small electrical components not...
Warning! Do not purchase a 27SI from USA Industries. They do not have a clue what is needed for a CUCV. There are two terminal landings missing from back of Alternator? Must assume civilian 27Si does not have what we need? Must be missing information to positively ID unit required. Suppose...
Thanks for all your timely responses! Calling manufacturer in morning to verify mounting design and electrical cofiguration is identical on type 100? If yes, will replace type 200 with 100. Meanwhile keep original and rebuild later when I have more time. DMLII sends....
