Things have been crazy since this happened, so thanks for bearing with me.
It turns out that there was a video. My neighbor caught the action on his cell phone.
He has been out of town, so it took a while to find out there indeed was a video, and then longer for me to get a copy. He finally...
I love just about everything about this build. The bob, the bed, the paint, the tires, etc., etc.
Just two little nits. That ground wire running to the outside of the frame looks slim shady, as do those skinny, misaligned and too-long carriage bolts holding the bed down. (On the ground, run...
It started out surging between 1000 and 1500 and then it got worse 1500 to 2000. Little by little going higher. Burnt the clutch - that was a no-go. Anyway she got real bad and then the end came violently. Came to the forum for help, was not thinking much about videography at the moment.
IT BLEW!!! Oh no, it violently blew. knocking loud and running at high rpm, something big let loose. Lots of smoke and oil everywhere. Nose about cut off. ****.
I don't have a fire extinguisher and even if I did I am not inclined to climb up on the truck right now. I forgot to mention, my truck has an extended intake pipe so the snorkel is way up in the air, near the exhaust.
The motor is running faster and faster. How do I bring this under...
I started my Deuce a few minutes ago, taking it out of its long winter's sleep.
The good news is that the batteries held their charge. :)
The bad news is that I think I have been jinxed by all of the recent run away threads.
The motor started normally, blowing black smoke, and then it kind...
Decepticon, good one, I was thinking the same thing. Except for the dog-ugly A3 nose, that is a very cool vehicle. Heck, it's cool even with that schnozzola.
I wonder if the interior is also done. What a great camper!
There's no difference. All principles, tools and techniques apply the same. You'll find it.
You have gotten thrown right into the deep end of the pool, and you are doing fine. I hope I do as well when my Deuce decides to throw me a few curve balls (knock on wood) of its own.
Maybe you can scuff them off with a worn 3M pad or something. Maybe they will scrub off with Pre-Kleano or a strong soap. Maybe you can dust over them with a very thin, light topcoat.
I was skeptical about whatever redesign you had in mind until I got to the part where you are keeping the factory links. Good decision, good idea for a different setup, and I look forward to see what you end up with.
I have always wondered how a flat black and really dark gray camo pattern would look. It would have to be the right shade of gray, like when black bed liner really looks a little gray.
I wonder if cutting the fuel with some pump gas will make it smell of gasoline. It is a multifuel, after all. If the fuel smells of gasoline, that might end it right there. Of course, you should still be paying the road tax on any untaxed fuel, but of course gasoline is taxed.
Guilty. My old lady always comments that she catches me looking at other trucks (but never at other women).
I, too, stare at my Deuce, and it is just a ratty POD (plain 'ol deuce). Yours is really, really nice.
I also stare at my Jeep and my trailer and my genset...
Suggest you replace the unistrut (or whatever it is called) on the external light bar with something else. The unistrut looks a bit slim shady, and the rest of the job is not.
The OP asked can it run backwards, not should should he do this at all.
There are a lot of ways to skin a cat, and just because what he has set up might not be optimal, it clearly works for what he does with it.
Yes, the alternator can spin backwards, and just as DH originally pointed out...
