There's not much in the "domestic" market equivalent to the M35A2. The older M211/M135 are less reliable and harder to find parts for, also all gasoline. The M35A3 is an option but they are uncommon and a half-breed with weaknesses of their own. That leaves the LMTV which officially replaced...
Gave the old gal a second steam cleaning this weekend to knock all the algae and "CARC crud" off her. If you don't have a Magnum Comet 4000 cleaner from your local auction house then you're missing out.
14.5r20 are the stock tire but have a reputation for unexpected sidewall failure. The closest surplus tire to replace it is the 365/85r20 through you can go a little bigger with the 395/85r20. Now, they will fit but are not a perfect. The conversion has been covered in detail here on SS many...
This is my HEMTT's eventual fate and she will go beside here sister below; the testbed for hydrogen prop engines and future of air warfare/travel. She will serve at the forefront of the next generation of setup and making history. I personally enjoy seeing our equipment continue to serve even...
The color is closer to CARC 383 green than the photo shows, it's washed from the sun and camera. I think with time it will dull out and look pretty good. I'm thinking flat black rims, "US Army Official Use Only" on the door, and bumper markings to give some black contrast.
I sold a non-runner that was incomplete 5 years ago for $15000. One was posted on facebook this week that was in pieces and allegedly complete for $50,000. A clean runner with release paperwork went for $220,000 (advertised, not sure of actual sale price) 2 years back. Armor is a pricey game as...
We did a crane test today to inspect hoses and seals - no issues noted. I always make the comparison to the M1084/M1086 Grove crane with their outrigger sensors. The HEMTTs don't have them and it prevents so much frustration. Start truck. Engage PTO. Toggle on. Toggle High idle. Get work done!
I have an M757 I've been slowly restoring and came across two more tractors near me. They're in fair to rough shape but at least rolling chassis with major components left in place. For anyone needing a parts truck contact me and I can get you in touch with the owner. I really don't want to see...
I picked this "ole gal" up a few months back from an environmental contractor that was selling out. She sat in a field with some FMTVs and hadn't been started since her active duty service life. The bumper was chalked up "Bad Starter DNR" so I investigated when it got home and the starter relay...
Look @silverstate55 .. the data plate has only so much space to write the nomenclature on after Simp is done with them. We are on M915A4R2E2-1.1 rofl
In all seriousness we've been considering trying it at some point in the future. A late 90's FLD120 rear chassis would fit it nicely.
Overkill is under rated and you've got all your bases covered. If they continue to give you trouble let me know and I can call Waco (upper CoC) and get them up to speed on the FMV regulations.
The weight slip is a relatively new thing for vehicles without weights on their titles and happen to...
I remember when this hit the news. Deuce brake failures are the result from lack of PMCS and inspections before hitting the road. As these trucks continue to age they will become more frequent. Most failures are due to lack of brake fluid more so than lack of air. This could be a leaky wheel...

FMM - MTV
"Fun" tid-bit of info on these serials. They're produced under "military/emergency services" serial range which causes CAT dealerships some trouble. HOLT CAT here in Texas has multiple licenses and their departments don't intertwine. When my first A1 had a failed ECM, their...
