This is a great thread. Few semi-trailers that come out the military surplus get any attention at all, most are slaved to do work until they fall apart and are scrapped. Glad to see even the big, less-celebrated pieces of military rolling stock have some dedicated owners as well.

Interesting, you can't buy them surplus from Uncle Sam, but you can buy a kit car, without engine, for $59K new from AMG. Well, I guess you CAN buy them now, but the old ones gotta get crushed to prevent you from getting a deal.

Okay, thanks for all the good info, guys. I'll re-recommend to him that he shouldn't buy a military vehicle for his work, but should instead spend the extra $$$ on a pickup and gooseneck trailer. He will only need it for street use (no offroad) so straight axles are all that are needed.

May have the opportunity to help out a small business with getting a vehicle(s) for hauling small loads locally. Most, if not all of their stuff gets moved on pallets, so loading/unloading would primarily be by forklift. The owner wants to move as much as possible, without getting a semi-truck...

Not a M105, but I recently got a junker M101, the bed was scrap metal, and gimpy bought most of what's left to be a portable dolly to mount his genset to, so he can move it around his yard more easily.
