It looks as though that resistor has been removed. It is not there. The other trucks have it on the plate above and behind the engine and the m1009 does not have the plate or the resistor, the glow plugs are wired to the terminal block just above the master. I picked it up from Ft campbell...
Can someone explain, is that resistor in a position where it gets unusually hot when slaveing? Is it under increased current while jumpstarting as compared to a normal start? I just got my M1009 home so I havnt gotten to slave start anything yet.
Look for fuel leaks when you shut it off. If it leaks fuel on the inlet side of the fuel lift pump it could be sucking in air while running. It would leak out fuel while sitting and be hard to start.
Ill bring over a jeep to set it on! :D If I know you, why does it need to be on a trailer? A drivline swap takes you what? 6 hours? Ser her on the ground and pick up the wrenches!
It is certantly possible that the IP has worn and is not up to par. I was hoping to find a less invasive problem and not have to lead you to bad news. :-?. You would have to find some diesel shop or the applicable manual to test the injection pump tolerances. My web-fu is not powerful enough...
You said you loosened an injection line and saw fuel. Thats about all you can do without an injection tester. "pop" tester for the injectors. It checks opening pressure and spray pattern. A flow bench for the pump. Not the sort of thing someone would just happen to have laying around.
Do you hear the solenoid for the glow plugs working? If you hear it, do you see a noticeable drop in battery voltage? I think the glowplugs should draw 60+ amps if they are all working. You will see the glowplugs and controller working as every time they come on, your voltage will droop. If...
Also, just check and be sure the air filter is reasonably clean. They like their air. Especially if it starts to get oil on it, it will become a restriction. Without air there is no heat in there!
Things that might help
There are only three things that are needed to make a diesel run;. (1) Heat from compression, (2) Fuel at the Right time and pressure. (3) Sufficient crank shaft speed to provide the compression
You say you know your getting fuel, for now we will hope that the timing...
Not to Hi-jack the thread, I am also looking for a cucv starter. Direct drive is fine. My m1009 didnt have a starter when I picked it up from Ft Campbell. Any Starters left? Andrewh
The wrong way 'round
I havn't had a chance to load up the CUCV yet. Just got it home from TN. But here is 16,400lbs behind a '01 Silverado. Knocked me all the way down to 7.7 MPG. :p The 496 had no problem keeping it at 65 mph.
I wonder if thats really the one I'm looking for. It is the correct color. I think Ill try the keys I found.......:-P Think Matt could weld a reciever on to the back of the gooseneck? The dually would pull the cucvs and a few 101s......
Just by the Holmes brocure posed earlier I'd think that with the snatch blocks you could pull anything any direction you could imagine. They point out all the anchor points all arount the wrecker body and the fact that the service cables can exit the mast in a 360 degree circle when removed...
I have absolutly NO idead on its value but **** is it cool. Has it just been sitting there inside?!?! I think I am drooling a little.... Might not be an 818 but still, cool! -Andrewh
The button could also be used to operate the propane injection system........ Or to start the continum transmorpher. Or the oil slick, wait, no need to change that system. How about some sort of Lyle gun so you dont have to get out to hook up the winch line?
