    Heavy white smoke cold start

    You have a lot of good knowledge here on the site. With that said, I had a issue sometime ago with rough start smoke for less than minute when starting. It was a simple glow plug boot on just one of the cylinders not making good contact.

    The cold advance is on the back of the right side of the block ( when sitting behind the wheel). Take the doghouse off and you should see it . While your at it may as well replace the fuel filter if its never been replaced ( Maintenance ). Some people here add injector clearer to the fuel once...
