I'm in. Coming from Lancaster and will arrive on Friday 4/13/12. I'm camping and bringing a total of two people in my group. I'll bring some firewood too.
The even was a success. Click here to view the post event comments, pics and videos - http://www.steelsoldiers.com/steel-soldiers-rally/85565-spring-2012-rausch-creek-rally-sign-up-thread-6.html#post1110632

Let's just settle on the 14th.
I'm picking up my new motor tomorrow am. The swap should take place a couple of days later.
I'll start the official sign up thread later today and post a link here.
Definitely hook up a mechanical gauge in place of the sending unit to verify.
While the sending unit is out test it with an Ohmmeter. Info on this test (my test) is here -

The first two pics a couple of posts backs shows the fracture. The first pice shows the idler gear with part of the shaft and the second pic shows the remaining shaft in the block above the oil pump. If you want better pics I'll post them.
Thanks
If the crank bearings are damaged I'm guessing everything else requiring lube should be questioned too.
What the heck made the idle shaft shear? A defect? No bluing, scoring, etc... on the shaft. The bearings in the idler gear are perfect.
Thanks for the pump offer. I do have brand new...
Drained the oil. Immediately stuck my finger in the flow and felt grit. Stuck a magnet in the the drain bucket and pulled up tiny metal shards. Removed metal shards from the cavity in the drain plug as well.
Pulled the pan. As soon as it was loose I heard a loud clunk, clunk as I tilted the pan...
Thanks for the offer but I'd like to keep it stock.
I won't have a chance to mess with it until Saturday. I'll post my findings then.
Thanks for the tip.
$1500 - $2500 for good used takeouts from TNJ Murray. The owner took the time to talk to me about the issue as well. Nice guy.
I'm with you. The indicators are not good. An inspection will tell.
Yep, that's next. Of course the beast is resting in my slanted, blacktop driveway. Yay!
I don't...
Mechanical gauge says zero PSI. No oil from the sample port. The engine stalled in less than 30 seconds while checking both. It has never stalled on start up.
New motor?
or...
Pull the pan and go after the oil pump?
Please let me know your opinion.
Thanks.
The document attached in the following post indicates the above chart is for the 0-60 PSI unit - https://www.steelsoldiers.com/showth...tml#post866795
This post contains the data for both the 60 and 120 PSI units - https://www.steelsoldiers.com/showth...tml#post866736
I hooked the oil pressure sending switch to shop air and and tested the resistance following the chart in cranetruck's post here - http://www.steelsoldiers.com/deuce/54195-super-low-oil-pressure-m35a2-multifuel.html#post623038
Tip - The threads on my quick disconnects match so that's how I...
I've got zero oil pressure registering on the dash gauge in my 70 M35A2 LDT. I noticed it when it stalled while warming up. Oil pressure was present at start up.
I understand the things to check such as a well grounded gauge, bench testing the oil pressure sending switch and checking the oil...
There is another thread active right now where they concluded flipping the hubs on the the m105 get's you nowhere. I'd go with the M200 axle.
