Since it should be pretty self evident where the o-ring goes, I'll guess that your O-ring doesn't match up the with the groove?
If it's too big, run cold water over it, too small = hot water.
Tracking and pulling or drifting are different items.
It is normal to "hold light downward pressure on left side of steering wheel to track straight " the slant of most roads to the right can cause this.

Keep in mind that these were rivited for a reason.
The cab & fenders are on thick rubber pads to allow for the frame flex & the patient compartment is mounted directly to the frame rails.
The rivits allow for some movement and the thin sheet metal dome also alows some flex.

Basically the arm/fork rides on the throw out bearing which pushes on the fingers of the pressure plate.
Check the arm, is it connected to its pivot point? That is the only 'quiet' failure I can think of. (but I'm no expert)
