I saw a DUKW set up the way you want about 25+ years ago in Northern Michigan. It was being used in a marine salvage operation. Unfortunately I wasn't able to get any pics of it and i know that doesn't help you much. :(
Those OM-series Mercedes engine are **** near indestructible. Maybe a bit underpowered for an M37? But maybe not, consider how low-geared an M37 is.
And there ARE options out there to utilize other transmissions than the OEM MBZ automatic if you don't want to:

Back to the original subject...was this sub originally a missile carrier? I remember the guys on a Detroit morning radio show talking to some Russian guy on the phone about 15 years ago who wanted to tow it to the States and make a restaurant out of it or something like that.
Sure it will!
I used one on my motorhome to run the rooftop unit whilst underway. And the ice cream truck guys use 'em day in and day out to operate their freezers.
Those machines mounted on that trailer (washer and dryer) look like Milnors. Are they? I'm always intrigued when I stumble onto military contracts picked up by, well, companies that you wouldn't really associate with military contracts.

Wreckerman has talked me into coming to the Georgia rally and collecting it from him there, and if I don't find a ride for it between now and then, I'll just haul it home myself. But if anyone can move it from there to here, I'll gladly pay you what it will cost me to rent a U-Haul trailer...
I have heard from more than one individual that the aforementioned would often make the difference between having to make a "quarter cut" or a "half cut" on an M151 body. [thumbzup]
On a related note, the one that really gets my goat was that Uncle Sugar decided that there was no way humanly...
Hey guys! I'm buying a parts truck from wreckerman, and he just talked me into coming down to this to collect it. I reserved the Mrs and I a cabin earlier last night.
Unfortunately I do not have an operational miltruck or 4x4 at the moment, :( so I'm hoping to score some seat time in some of...
Eghads! At least use a longer bolt and "double nut" the bottom of it. Or better yet, use a dedicated "farm wagon"type pin with a "bobby pin"clip in the bottom.
True dat, however I still think it would be much easier just to swap the entire running gear out, and even the lighter chassis would probably be more than enough trailer than I would ever need.
OK, so here's another question: How difficult/expensive is it to just do a full brake job on one of...
I did a search on here but couldn't come up with a definitive answer. I have an a2 from Bragg, and an a3 from Lejeune. The a2's bed is all rusted out in front and my plan is to shorten it up to the second "rib" for the stake pocket right before the fenders and mount it on the rear of my '61 IHC...
Just to clarify things a bit...I plan on transplanting one of these trannies into a 1961 International Harvester Travelette. This is a truck that HAD a "juice clutch" setup in it when it left the factory.
I've been researching this for months now and think that I have a general idea of how I want to go about it, but I just though I'd see if any of you guys have a writeup and/or some pics that I could take a look at.
Any and all help is, of course, immensely appreciated.

Going to see if I can't go to Lejune this Thursday and collect it. [thumbzup]
