I just put a set of AC Delco's on my 6.2 Suburban...not impressed with the fitment. I may end up doing this anyway but if I'd have to do it again, convert to AN and make your own lines.
The fact is that if some vehicles have it and some don't means it isn't really a mission critical item that is going to cause catastrophic damage regardless of the cost to install. Some of the cases I've seen have a mounting boss cast into the housing with no threaded holes so at some point New...
Just want to point out again that I have yet to see something built in the last 20 years have anything remotely close to a torque rod on the tcase, never seen one on a Japanese import truck, nor anyone adding one aftermarket. I think arguing over the importance of the torque rod is like picking...
A mated manual trans is probably difficult to find just because of the low production vs. the automatic but LKQ probably has a million 6.0/4L80E combos ready to go out the door from bare to dressed for cheap money. I don't think I would even waste my time trying to find a donor rig unless one...
If I was going with an LS there is absolutely no way I would keep the TH400. It's a great trans but will do that engine no justice. It robs power, has terrible gearing, no lock up, and no OD. The good news is that you can beat the bag out of it and it will have those attributes forever. If I was...
I personally like the slow 6.2 just for its reliability and cheap to run characteristics. My Suburban build took a turn when I found a very small crack in the cooling jacket on the side of the block that is now weeping. If I knew this before dropping it into my Suburban, building a new fuel...
Might be, both my CUCV's have skids on the crossmember. I do see more of them on civy units, especially the 80's 700r4/208 vintage trucks. I wouldn't necessarily think that there is going to be catastrophic failure under normal use without the rod. Sure if you land the truck on something firm or...
Either trans will be rough because of the gearing spread. I would think an NV3500 although lighter duty would drive way better with a 6.2 diesel. As far as an LS swap goes, I don't think you can compare the two. The LS will probably get slightly less fuel economy and has much more wiring...
Neither my M1010 setup with a 208 or M1031 with a 205 have a torque rod. No one on Pirate runs them even with doublers. No other truck I can think of with a circular tcase pattern like Dodge or Jeep use them commonly. They can't be all that they are cracked up to be. See what I did there...
Suburban clones are awesome!!!
That doesn't look too bad but I'm sure you are going to be chasing frame brackets and lines for awhile. I would almost do yourself a favor and get that out of the way first. Personally, I'd demote that truck to beater/low buck rig. If you plan on sinking any...
I'd just run a 31x10.5 Duratrac or AT2 depending on how aggressive you really need and just be done with it. If you are concerned that much with fuel pick up a Civic or Corolla 5 speed beater car. Just my 2 cents...
The dead give away is that a tight LSD you will feel almost no play between left and right side when jacked up. There will be a ton of resistance trying to spin one wheel by hand with the other on the ground. With a Detroit, you will note that the wheels have about an eight of a turn slop which...
Curious to see the specs on the Ford CUCV. I wonder if they have full emission systems and a 24v NATO setup along with the lowest gear package. Personally all of the newer diesels suck to work on so at least this one has a solid front axle unlike the plastic suspension used in the Chevy counterpart.
I believe b4thundr is still making them, best bet would be to reach out to him. You can use any kind of generator controller but you will have to wire and program it yourself. The Apecs that b4thundr sells is plug and play once you splice the very easy to do harness in.
I found that I was...
Congrats on the new everything! My M1031 controller is still working awesome!
Wait...M1031 to a Ford truck?!?!?! Not an upgrade. What goes in the blue filler cap? Water :)
I'm doing a Suburban clone build and just finished mounting the driver side 2nd battery which occupies the same space as the CUCV overflow. The stock 350 overflow was on the passenger side and mounts lower. I think I may just end up using an extra washer bottle on the fender. Post up what you do...
For what you have listed, I don't think the front 10 bolt is terrible with that tire size, vehicle weight, and usage. A trutrac would be a good choice although they seem to be creeping up in price over the years. As far as the rear goes...wouldn't even bother. Junk, junk, and junk...even in...
It sounds like you are confusing bio diesel (especially commercially made at a pump) to WVO which requires another heated tank and to switch over once the engine is running and fuel is up to temp. I don't see any bio in my neck of the woods but I agree, it probably is a blend which most newer...
I still think that you never really defined what you wanted. You stated you never drive the truck you currently own. You haven't finished another project. You stated that you do not want a project that is going to be needy. I would bet that 99% of people have some objective in mind when looking...
