Is your oil contaminated with diesel fuel? Smell it. Was your crank hub smooth or did it have a groove? You can renew the surface with a speedie sleeve. Was your new seal, new or NOS?

Interesting, I think a few guys have posted that they used that filter setup on their CUCVs. I'm sure you can get a diesel rated filter for it, later. Sorry, I missed the fact it says it is not rated for diesel.
