Good source for these switches? Mine is bad as well, finally got my clutch unstuck only to find out it's not kicking on when it should...
Amazon.com: PB Thermostatic Switch Engine Drive Fan Compatible for HMMWV, HUMVEE # 12338599. : Automotive
I saw this, are PB okay switches?
Yes, I have a GM1 turbo. Not the most efficient thing, I know. I will read your thread and see if there is anything I can apply to my situation.
I've read on here and elsewhere on the Internet that 210 is the upper limit, and 220+ can lead to cracking the heads and block. I agree that with a...
Not sure which HMMWV model you have, but try TM 9-2320-387-24-1 (applicable to ECV's). Paragraph
4-60. STOPLIGHT/TORQUE CONVERTER CLUTCH BRAKE SWITCH MAINTENANCE will cover the removal, installation, and adjustment.
I swapped to a viscous clutch on my old A2 truck I had and it worked great, but I got it from one of the guys that makes them for the Hmmwv - it really was nice not having that loud fan kick in. My new 1151 is a rev truck and it’s super quiet when the fan “kicks in”, sometimes I don’t think it...
It was cloudy today, so I figured I would hook up the gauges and see if I did not get all the crap out of the lines. If the new compressor were crapped out, I would see a low high side reading.
Instead when I started it up, the AC was ice cold again. With 90 degrees outside, I think these...
Did you completely flush all the lines, evap and cond? if not you likely fried the new comp with particular matter left when the original compressor cashed in.
Seems my HMMWV repairs usually ends up being one step forward, three steps back... aua
It was sitting for several weeks since the beginning of Inferno Season here in Florida. I cannot take the inferno anymore in my old decrepit state and if I do go outside with the intent of working on the...
Hello everyone.
Update on the transmission pan: I was able to clean up the pan mating surface, and the old gasket. I took a chance and installed it, static leak check was good. We drove the truck for 45 miles. continuously checking in 1-2 mile intervals, then 5 mile intervals. All is/was great...
If they are both GM R4 compressors then yes you can simply change the pulley, probably not hard to find the serpentine pulley ether from a scrap HMMWV compressor or it is likely the same pulley used in some civy applications, as long as you have the 24V coil you should be good to go.
Buy (or get...
First, let me state that I am a novice on the HMMWV, but there are certain things you can do.
Start by unplugging the connector at on top of the dryer - the low pressure switch. With the AC turned on, engine running, you should see 24V on one of the leads in the connectors with a VOM. If you...
Steve, not to hijack this thread but, on the Vbelt compressor, can younjust replace the clutch section? I have a brand new Vbelt compressor that I am keeping with the idea of spare and clutch removal. Maybe I have been wrong all this time LOL. I bought the complete kit from Gov planet.
this was pretty strait forward, could not use my original fan and you will have to cut down the replacement fan.
Use a Hayden FanClutch P/N 2839 or USMW fanclutch P/N 22613 (Cheaper option)
For the Fan AC Delco P/N 15010202 or Dorman P/N 621-514 (cheaper option) same fan.
I did trim leading...
Yea I have this same fan, for me it's much better than the original cadillac valve setup, especially going uphill. I know people say these engines can run hot, but these 6.5s are not no cummins or duramax, the 6.5s are well known for a high failure rate of overheating and crack blocks. I also...
Did a bit more TS on the wrecker. With the help of "soldier B", that would be the @BLK HMMWV guy, he actually stayed off the phone, we located the majority of the air leaks. They were the lines for the rear winch clutch lever. The fittings were falling off! The gauge on the dash says there is...
viscous fanclutch should free wheel when it hits the water. The Black Dog clutch is fixed, so I may be screwed on fording. AI told me it's possible, but I don't like the idea of that at ALL.
Anyone know of an upgrade to viscous fanclutch for an A2 engine?
Im not sure how to answer this question, but let me try and understand this….so only a hmmwv with a Hydraulic fanclutch can ford water crossings?
any other tactical vehicle just waits for the engineers to show up and build a bridge?
All tactical vehicles are left on the Landing craft except for...
Steve, good to hear from you.
A friend of mine just took his rig into the ocean and ripped up his radiator. Just sayin’.
I wonder if something in the design must have been changed to allow fording in the REV B and C units. What is in the revised TM?
Sometimes there is no rhyme or reason for anything that happens to a HMMWV, you are going to have to troubleshoot any issues as they pop up.
It could be that one of the components in the fanclutch circuit failed or not....
