After searching for what I thought was a simple question I will just ask here.
How do you change the large fuel filter behind the lt ft wheel on this 5 ton. Dose the canister spin off somehow. I don't see any bolt to remove.
I have 2 CUCV's with the same problem. Never had any problems with starting the 1028 or the 1008. Then out of the blue they both loose prime over night. I tried a new lift pump on one, no help. Changed all rubber lines on both,no help. Changed the fuel filter on mine, the 1028 and it was fine...
My 1028 has been flawless up till now. I bought this truck from Cucvrus. I must say he maintains these trucks great. Every system in this truck worked perfect when I got.it.
A few days ago I could hear a strange noise coming from the rear of the truck. It sounded like a brake shoe fell apart...
I filled the truck a few days ago and must have got a load of water with it. I use power source additive in all my diesel trucks but there must be to much water for that to do the trick. Light is coming on when I turn corners. I did a search but can't find exactly where the petcock is to drain...
I scored a new VR 10.000. Warn winch today for free. One of my customers bought a new Jeep and it was already on it. Dealer installed. Well she wanted it off so I got it. I wanted to mount a winch on my 1028 since day one. I may even mount it in the rear. I would like to here ideas or see how...
I wanted to get rid of some of the drone these trucks make from trying to suck air through the 3 inch hole in the stock air cleaner. I made up a nice intake hose with 3 inch flexable tubing and couplers that ran from the stock air cleaner to a hole on the inside of the fender between the...
I'm almost done with this project. I don't have any before pics here but It was not in the best of shape. The body was beat and rusty. So most of that is new. But drivetrain wise it runs and shifts like a clock. I replaced all ft end parts IE tie rods, drag link, all new shocks, sway bar...
I ordered my seat cover from Brothers. They said they had burgudy color OE style seat covers. So I took a shot. Color is great. The pattern is not the exact match to the orig. but real close with the correct looking grain. It was super easy to install and comes with the hog rings and hog ring...
I ordered a new dash pad from Brothers. Same dash LMC sells. As I expected not the best product. If they had a stamped steel inner frame like the OE dash it would be a great product. The foam is very soft and is all you have to screw some of your dash bezel into. Also along the bottom just above...
New dash pad. Anybody know how well they fit?
Anybody try the A/M dash pads from LMC or Brothers? I have one coming from Brothers and can't find any info good or bad. I'm not expecting perfect but it dose need to fit decent. There are some USA made ones that cost more. I'll pay more for a...
I'v been looking for CUCV for some time now.Last week I talked to Cucvrus and bought his M1028A1. He drove it up to me from PA to Ct about 230 miles yesterday. It was just what he told me. Excellent running. He proved that by driving it here.
Once it was in my driveway I looked under the truck...
Has anybody put a 4L80 trans in there 1028. I was told it bolts right to the tranfer case. If that so it seems to me to be a great way to get overdrive.
I know there was a post on here not long ago but I can't find it.
My m936A2 was undriveable over 45 MPH. I noticed that my 939A2 had counter weights on the ft wheels and it drives smooth as silk. I installed the same weights on the wrecker and it solved the problem. 60 MPH and feels perfect...
Last week I was using my 936A2 and the boom winch motor started leaking where the manual shaft comes out the rear of the hyd. motor. The motor comes right off, less than 1/2 hour and it was on the bench. I pulled the front cover and found the seal that is leaking.
Now the fun part. There is no...
1 open your floor vent.
2 Pull the cotter pin out of your door check. The little rod that stops the door from opening.
3 Reach your hand in the outside vent door and pull that door check out.
4 Pull the rubber stop off the rod and install a 3/4 inch spacer. You can use a nut or an old upper...
After Driving the two back to back all I can say is what a diff. This cargo truck is like a race car after driving the wrecker. Now I know the wrecker is 15000 pounds heavier than the cargo.
The cargo is very nimble. Handles very well. And will leave the wrecker in the dust. This cargo pulls a...
Whats the deal with Hawker batteries? Are they a gel type battery? Is there anything you need to do diff. to charge them?
I ask because the 5 ton cargo I bought last week is now home. It is an RR rebuild done 11/11. The truck is like new. The batteries are fine and it started right up...
30 years ago my brother and I bought an old gas job deuce pipeline line truck. Then it started. Long story short we ended up with a dozen trucks inc. 2 M543's 1 M62 2 halftracks and so on. After years of ownership we sold them all off.
Now here I am at 52 and the bug gets me again. Back in...
