I have spent many hours trying to adjust the governor. The manual says to adjust for maximum sensitivity without hunting. It says the speed should drop from 61.5 Hz no load to 60 Hz full load with no hunting.
I am using a quality digital frequency meter, not the one the unit came with. The...
Hi, I wanted to post this information for other users. Don't know if it will be useful for anybody or not. In June 2021 the gear on the oil pump on my MEP-002A sheared off. The only thing that got damaged was the gear cover plate and the oil pump. I got some really good help here on the Steel...
I wanted to see if anybody has an Oil Cooler for an MEP-002A or MEP-003A (Part #102-0843) or knows where I can find one. I will post in the classifieds too.
Thank You
I bought an MEP-002A in 2013. I recently bought another and there are some differences that I wanted to ask about.
1) The oil pressure gauge on the new one does a weird thing. It reads about 40PSI when the generator is running. When I stop the generator it will stay up above 40 for somewhere...
Does anybody have, or know where I can find, an ASK for a MEP-002A that is in good shape? Has anybody succeeded in finding a suitable replacement for the batting in an ASK? Where did you find it?
Thanks
I have been using an MEP-002A for off-grid backup for 8 years now. I have been inquiring about modern generators just for comparison. I will call a dealer or manufacture and describe the 002A to them and ask if they have anything that would be a good replacement. The thing that gets mentioned...
Does anybody have an S1 Start switch or a fuel gauge (Just the very top part with the needle pointer that mounts on the top of the gauge assembly) they can sell? The knob on my start switch is frozen on with rust so I will need to cut it off to remove the switch, so I need the knob too.
Years ago I read somewhere that running a water cooled generator at 10-15% load for extended periods of time was harmful to the engine. I can't remember where I read this and I can't remember the reasoning for it. Now I can't seem to find anything at all about the topic. Has anybody else ever...
Sorry I accidentally posted this 3 different times. That was unintentional.
MEP-002A I did and oil change. The generator ran normally for 1.25 hours and then suddenly died. While it was running I checked the oil pressure gauge several times. It was was registering just under 60 PSI consistently...
Does anyone know when the last brand new MEP-002A generators were manufactured? Are they still taking in these machines for TIER-2 reset? If not, when they they stop doing TIER-2 resets on them?
I have an MEP-002A generator. There is no Output voltage. I have tracked it down to a disintegrated rear rotor bearing that allowed the rotor to collide with the stator damaging the coils on the Rotor Exciter. The part # for the rotor assembly in the ARMY TM 9-6115-584-24P parts manual is...
