    Softer Springs

I am running a lot more pressure than 15-20! My tires suck right now. I think they sat flat for months, as they all have flat spots. I initially over filled them in an attempt to remove the flat spots, but it has not worked. When all the flat spots line up on the road the rig shakes like...

    Softer Springs

A slight sag with the armada springs may be perfect. Then it will be possible to compensate with air shocks...keeping the ride as smooth as possible. Do we go with 4 rear Armada springs, or are they the same in all 4 corners of the Armada? Vapor Trail...what did you do that has your ride...

    Softer Springs

I see this thread has been thriving without me! There is a lot of good info. My quest for a softer suspension has come to a head. Our 2004 Range Rover died, and it is the vehicle we tow across the country behind the RV. Last year we ran Poohkeepsie Trail in Colorado. When we got off, nobody...

    Crankcase venting

Thank you. Mine does have the valve. Based on the amount of oil coming out of the dipstick that was only 1/2 turn loose, open vent hoses would have to smoke and spew oil like hell. So, my impression is that this valve is a crankcase vent? It limits blowby back into the intake manifold? Is...

    Crankcase venting

Anyone got a pic, or general location to look for the valve? I am not proficient with the parts manual...it kicks my ass for hours, and then I ask you guys and get the part numbers quick, LOL. It sounds like CDR is the equivalent of a PCV valve on a gasser? Why would it be removed to demil...

    Crankcase venting

Thank you both for the responses. Where is the CDR valve located? Every other diesel I have owned had a road draft tube. And, I guess if there is no oil in the intake, then my blowby must not be too excessive??

    Crankcase venting

Can someone explain how the 6.5 liter normally aspirated engine is vented? I changed injectors last month. I must have loosened the oil dipstick seal, as the next time I went on the freeway oil was all over the bottom of the truck. It was so bad I thought it was a power steering/brake boost...

    Injector Problem?

I skimmed through the thread. I commend you on a lot of planning and work. I am more of a KISS kind of guy. If I cannot find a plug and play fix, then I think I may just disable the whole glow plug system. My plugs were burned out for for at least a year, and I had no trouble starting, as we...

    Injector Problem?

I have done a search, but can't find the thread you are referencing...I found a few others where you talked about the thread, but I just can't find the actual thread. Could I get a link to it?

    Injector Problem?

You are saying the control module burns the plugs?

    Injector Problem?

Well, this is the closeout for this thread. To recap, the truck suddenly started making a severe knocking noise. In a diesel, assuming you didn't throw a rod or the like, the most common cause is a leaking injector. If an injector leaks fuel into the cylinder on the piston up-stroke, then the...

    Injector Problem?

The new injectors arrived today from Leroy. I'll wait for a day under 100 degrees here in Tx before I get them installed. I am not so sure I would want the common rail system on a vehicle that needs to be reliable. It hits over 30,000psi and is very tempermental. I know the road cummins have...

    Injector Problem?

I do remember those diesels, all derived from gas engines, that tended to explode randomly!!

    Injector Problem?

Very interesting. I may have to dig in and study this system closer. The timing must be set entirely by the "pop" pressure and the fuel pump. I can see how a weak spring in the injector would lead timing considerably. Thank you for the sources, SB!

    Injector Problem?

Well, I have to ask...what is the "pop".

    Injector Problem?

Interesting! The Cummins fuel rail runs as high as 30,000lbs/sqinch...the fuel spray can cut your finger off if you start reaching around a leaking hard line! Apparently the HMMWV is much lower pressure. As soon as the weather gets below 100 degrees I will check the injectors.

    Injector Problem?

I would imagine that results in fuel spraying everywhere. I guess it would be possible to run a hose to the open line to capture the fuel? Also, are the lines separated, so that opening one will not vent all of the injector lines? On a Cummins the entire fuel circuit would lose pressure if...

    Injector Problem?

I’m not sure what that means. on Cummins you remove the hard line to each injector and plug the supply, one at a time.

    Injector Problem?

Thanks. So I assume the troubleshooting is the same as a Cummins…that is, block the injector lines one at a time until you find the bad one? Is there a special plug for this? Also, the usual injector shops don’t mess with HMWV injectors. Is there a decent supplier for injectors?

    Injector Problem?

I have the later, non-turbocharged engine in a 2008 1163. Today, all of a sudden, it started making a "squeaking" noise, which sounded like the belt was chirping. Then, on acceleration, it continues the chirping, but also started an irregular knocking. Within 5 minutes the knocking was...
