Spicer Transmission drain Bungs - where to buy?

Many thanks for this, this was just the info I needed to search for this part. Cheers from the U.K.

Spicer Transmission drain Bungs - where to buy?

Hi guys, could anyone point me in the direction of where to buy (preferably new and if possible magnetic) drain bungs for the M35a2 Spicer gearbox/transmission unit? A part number for this part would also be very useful, or even a description in terms of size/number of threads/thread pitch etc...

    CARNAC's Historical VIN INFO Thread

Did you guys get a numbers identification file for the M35`s WITH Winch in the end? Thanks

Definitive conclusions - Which rear axle is best to disable and how?

This is the exact look I would like to achieve, original styling but has the subtle difference of the 11.00-20 bias bar-grip tyres for better cruising speed or lower RPM`s and better fuel economy etc.

Definitive conclusions - Which rear axle is best to disable and how?

Totally agree. Luckily my 9.00`s are 40+ years old and are very perished and DEAD, so I`ve got to get some kind of new tyres anyway.

Definitive conclusions - Which rear axle is best to disable and how?

The idea is not to go faster. The idea is : 1) to try to reduce unnecessary wear/drag on the tyres and drive train components - when the truck is just being used for road use. 2) To get better MPG on the road AND to get Lower RPM`s at cruising speed and/or increase cruising speed at the...

Definitive conclusions - Which rear axle is best to disable and how?

For me, I like the "stock" appearance of a Deuce. I`m not personally a fan of Bobbed Deuce`s and I also think they lose their much loved style when super singles are fitted. Even just putting on non-bargrip road tyres, really changes the look of the truck and for me, it`s a quite negative...

Definitive conclusions - Which rear axle is best to disable and how?

Ok, NY Tom and Wolfdog, thanks for your input guys. Let me expand on this a little : Options for forward rear axle are to fit lock-out free wheeling hubs and "splined both ends" axle shafts to both sides of that axle. This is the perfect solution as it allows that axle to be completely free...

Definitive conclusions - Which rear axle is best to disable and how?

Hi, yes, have air-shift with free wheeling lock-out hubs on the front steering axle. Tire wear and fuel mileage are both considerations. Some people, in older threads, think its best to remove drive from the rear axle, others including Jatonka, think its best to remove drive from the forward...

Definitive conclusions - Which rear axle is best to disable and how?

Hi, thanks for your reply but I`m afraid you've misunderstood me. I`m not talking about bobbing a Deuce or removing any axles from the truck. I`m talking about removing the power drive to one of the rear axles - by doing so fuel economy and tyre wear will be improved. My question is which is...

Definitive conclusions - Which rear axle is best to disable and how?

Hi guys, I`ve read varying opinions on this, but some of these are from many years ago. So, I was wondering what the current thoughts are on this please and why? 1) Which of the two rear axles is best to disable in the Deuce if you are looking to get better fuel economy and less tire wear...

Removing Front Driveshaft? - with Sprag transfer case.

Cool, I had a look and found plenty, for around 40 to 50 bucks each - so there seems to be a good supply. I found some units from this supplier already de-splined, they are a little pricey but do look nice. https://mvpartstore.com/products/desplined-front-axle-caps-for-rockwell-25-ton-axles...

Removing Front Driveshaft? - with Sprag transfer case.

Sounds even better :) - Are these desplined hubs something that is available to buy "off the shelf" somewhere ? Repro or Original item? Thanks

Removing Front Driveshaft? - with Sprag transfer case.

Great! thanks :) Very useful info for anyone who is planning to use a sprag`d Deuce as a mainly on road vehicle with occasional hard/flat ground offroad use.

Removing Front Driveshaft? - with Sprag transfer case.

Many thanks for your reply. And you can just drive completely as normal - and all of the usual problems associated with the Sprag will not occour? (Pull off in whatever gear you like, roll back with the clutch down in a forward gear etc etc)

Removing Front Driveshaft? - with Sprag transfer case.

Hi guys, Hopefully this is a fairly simple question to those with knowledge of the Sprag transfer cases. I did a search but could not find a definite answer to the following question : Question - If you are not worried about having any drive to the front axle and you have a sprag transfer...

    Turbo Identification (whistler or not?)

Yep, exactly that. Unfortunately there are very few M35`s actually in the U.K and of those, maybe a couple or so come up for sale each year, so the choice is not exactly massive. But i`m not in a rush and the more I get to see then the better grasp I can get of comparing them and whats to be...

    Turbo Identification (whistler or not?)

Thanks for everyones help. In the end I decided not to buy this truck as it was really way way too much work. So unfortunately this tale will remain unsolved and that turbo`s identity will continue to be a bit of a mystery.

    Turbo Identification (whistler or not?)

Hmmm, that could well be the case, Ive just no idea as I`m pretty new to these rigs. I do know the engine is a 1982 model LDT465-1C built by White. But I don`t know if that turbo is even the original unit to that engine... It could be a turbo from a seventies engine. I`m basically lost!

    Turbo Identification (whistler or not?)

As can be seen in the pics - the Schwitzer Indianapolis part number is 140295. Hopefully someone can identify it for me.
