Steel Soldiers giveaway sponsored by hawkerbattery.com

I love AGM batteries and try to put them in every vehicle including my M1026.

    Securing a HMMWV

I keep the steering wheel cable lock installed as well. I think the barrel key in the PCB is an easy solution. You have to remove the PCB to install it, so battery is disconnected first. Drill one hole (carefully placed) in the PCB and connect it up. The advantage over a fuel cutoff is that...

    Securing a HMMWV

Ignition switch I removed the PCB (protective control box) and cut a hole in the side where I installed a SPST barrel type security key switch. It was pretty easy to trace down the signal path going into the harness connector that comes from the ignition paddle switch and I used the SPST switch...

    Electronic master vehicle switch question???

I installed one of these switches about 10 years ago. I am thinking now it might be a good idea to install a fuse on the +24v lead. Anyone have any more details on them burning up? How often has this occurred?

    Hood dogbones too short?

I have an older M998 and my rubber dogbones for the hood latches need to be replaced. I bought some parts off ebay and when they arrived they appear to be at least 1-2" too short. I don't see how they could stretch to fit without destroying the parts. It looks to me like there might be a...

    M998 Won't Start Please Help

Time to hit the TM's and start probing around with a voltmeter. Did you replace the glow plug controller too? The always say to make sure the battery is disconnected when replacing EESS and GPC.

Seems to get getting fuel to start, but won't stay running.

Run some seafoam/naptha through your MFI pump. Open up the solenoid cover and refill the reservoir with seafoam. Be careful with the metal fingers on the solenoid, they are sprung and have to go in the proper position when closing the cover back up. Do it incorrectly and you will bend them, then...

Stanadyne MFI pump clogged in M1025

I got the pump working again. What worked finally was to remove the solenoid hat cover, remove all diesel fuel from the reservoir, break the armature free which appeared to be stuck. Even with it freely moving for the inlet valve, it still wouldn't produce any high pressure fuel to the...

Hmmwv is so unique. But I wonder why a few things

That's a great idea! Lol, Check out this video for the action! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kjF8ju7YeLI I think that sort of move only works in the movies.

Hmmwv is so unique. But I wonder why a few things

I have a turtle mfg corp M101A3. It has a split axle that raises the center to the same height as the HMMWV. The wheels also seem to be a little bit wider than the fenders. It does use the same bolt pattern for the wheels/hubs as the HMMWV. I don't have the nicer goodyear MT tires on there, but...

Hmmwv is so unique. But I wonder why a few things

The tactical trailer for the HMMWV has wheelbase set to match so it won't have issues bouncing around the wheel ruts. I have an original brush guard and it is solid steel. Not aluminum.

    what one to get?

Does anyone have any info on states that are revoking title/plates? I live in FL and I have had a M1025 HMMWV since the United Defense auction and I have a regular on-road DOT registration and plates. It concerns me that they are now flooding the street with DRMO trucks that have "off road...

    Slantback Questions - Newbie Here

I have original slantback on my HMMWV. It is 100% steel and is heavy as ****. There is an anodized rollbar that inserts into the B pillars which makes it hard to install at home unless you have a cherry picker. My brother has some trucks used for putting signs up and we were able to use that to...

Has anyone here replaced their fuel tank? Lessons learned?

Wow, that is a great video. Thanks! Looks like it is a lot easier if you have a pit in your garage to work from. (that would be nice!)

Has anyone here replaced their fuel tank? Lessons learned?

I have a new fuel tank, but my drive shaft has the round metal disc in the way. The disk however is not used for the parking brake (looks like the upgrade mod was performed), it is just still in between the driveshaft and the diff. I am thinking I can just remove the disc, cut it down and put...

    Blew something up...

I was also thinking to use compressed air on the fuel inlet and force carb cleaner through. Thoughts? I have had to remove a stanadyne MFI pump before and get it repaired/rebuilt/replaced and it is a real pain in the ass.

    Blew something up...

With the 6.2L being IDI type with glow plugs in the pre-ignition chamber, do you think it would be safe to just disconnect the glow plug wires and then toss some diesel/atf down the intake manifold? I really want to get my engine turning for a while to see if my MFI pump will unclog itself. I...

    Blew something up...

Read this link regarding the 6.2L and 6.5L diesel engines in the HMMWV. I imagine the military thought process is "get this truck moving NOW". Diesel techs I have talked with say to use another type of oil, ATF, etc...

Stanadyne MFI pump clogged in M1025

What about removing the top injector line and blowing some carb cleaner into it? Looks like it has a channel that goes by the fuel inlet control valve and it might drain down into the delivery valve area and unstick the valve?

    Blew something up...

    1) Always remove the negative ground wire. I remove it even when charging the batteries and I never charge them in series. I charge each battery separately at 12v. (leave them connected though except the ground). Use a SHORT wrench. And it is recommended to wrap it up with PVC tape. 2) NEVER...
