Sorry I haven’t said much lately. I figured I better quit before I tire you out with my questions. I do want to report my success!! I got my engine to fire and run without stopping. I did have to replace the E1 (first) pump because the coil was not working (burnt/shorted). I replaced it with the...

Ken. thank you for sharing about reuse of fittings on original fuel lines. I would also like to reuse them but can’t figure out how. Do you screw two female ends onto male/male coupler/union to hold everything rigid then put wrench on collars covering hose? I say this because I can’t get...

I agree with use of serrated washers to ground pumps. Talking about pumps…. I followed advice for bleeding lines/filters and then I disconnected hose at injection pump(IP). I confirmed I had pressure and fuel. I checked what appeared to be solenoid linkage next to IP and it moved freely...

I also discovered that the fitting ends are call JIC fitting as stated above. I found them at an industrial welding/hardware supply house. As stated….VERY EXPENSIVE. Another question… where on this forum is there information on how to bleed air out of fuel system. I have pump operable now and...

I agree. I hope you heal up fast GuyFang! question. What are the hose end fittings called so that I can buy more (if needed) to rebuild my fuel lines (hard and liable to break/crack). Hose end fittings are specialized and seem to be removable. Do you tighten male/female ends together so that...

Rick/Ray. Thank you for clarifications. My goal is to use original pumps if possible. I will keep working to resuscitate E2 (secondary pump). First step is to cut out EMI filter and retest. If dead… I will move Aux pump over to E2 position. After working on these pumps, Ive realized how simple...

Rick. I must correct something I said about the pump I found. It is NOT a drop in for OEM pump because it is NOT a flow-through design nor does it have an internal screen. However, it is 24 V. As an update, I tested the second pump (E2 position) after I cleaned it up and reassembled. It did...

Rick. I got it out! Your original solution is what worked…. Patience, but I add a HEAVY dose of stubborn resolve. The plunger was galled. Thank God it came out after banging it HARD on a wood surface. I have polished plunger and cylinder with 400 grit waterproof paper (not garnet paper because...

Working on second pump now. It is severely frozen with varnish; more so than 1st pump. The plunger/piston is stuck in bottom of cylinder. I have been spraying with brake cleaner and PB Blaster for about a day/night. It seems like it might have galled or mechanically bound up. If so… is there a...

Thanks. I used 400 grit to remove vanish because plunger was hanging up in tube. Lubed it and put it together. I hope it works. All the parts are clean and move freely. Now I’ll remove the other pump and do it again. You all are fantastic. I’ll report on next pump and how they test out. Thank...

OK…, I got the steel plunger/piston out!!!! Now what is safest way of sanding the inside of the THIN brass tube that plunger came out of? I thought of using some 400 grit paper wrapped on pencil or something close to diameter of plunger. What would you suggest?

Rick. I appreciate your vote of confidence!! Yes.. I saw the white valve you mention. It too is stuck. I have not banged on anything for the reasons you stated. The problem is that the piston is stuck in bottom of cylinder (brass tube) and it needs to come down. I will soak it in solvent and...

Found it. What brand of throttle body cleaner… does it matter? Currently I can’t get another part out. See part 11 above. It is down inside tube and looks like it is screwed in… but how? It looks like it is a long piston that needs to mov up and down. Any thoughts.

    Mep 003a fuel pump connectors

Following excellent advice given and pump diagram provided (priceless!!!)… I have removed pump and started disassembly. I believe pump was not working because it is severely frozen with varnish. See pictures. I was having problems removing part #9 in diagram due to varnish. It is a piston head...
