    Fluiddampr: what's involved

This is something I will be doing in about a month when I get home from my current trip. I figured I would have to remove the fan and shroud. Do I need to drain and remove the radiator hoses to get the shroud out? What about the oil cooler lines, do they need to come out? Anything else I have...

Where to get a rebuild kit for CUCV alternator

Well, now that I have my M1009 back on the road I decided to clean up the rest of the old oil/grease from the old leaks. While doing that I managed to get some water in the passenger side alternator and didn’t let it dry enough before I started it and run it just long enough to drive it back...

Blown head gasket or something else?

I have finally finished putting everything back together. No more bubbles in the coolant. The coolant temperature no longer wanders up and down either. It seems to run good and it sounds ok to me. Thanks for all the advice from members here, it made a difference as this is my first diesel to...

    Speedometer Cables Breaking

When you install a new cable, try spinning it by hand before installing the transfer case end. When you do, does it spin easy, does the speedometer move?

    Blanking plug standard - original - radiator - M1009 / Chevrolet Blazer K5 6,2 Diesel

The radiator is downstream of the thermostat. It seems as though any additional temperature sensor sensor should be upstream, either in the other head in the unused port like Jeepadict says or in the coolant crossover if you have a spare port there.

    Pinion angle shims

Some of them are that smart.

    Pinion angle shims

He does make a good point. If it isn’t going off road, it probably doesn’t matter anyway. I have seen it done that way many times as well. Once or twice I have seen people stranded offroad with jeeps who’s drive shafts fell out for the exact same reason.

    Pinion angle shims

It is really difficult to tell looking at pictures if there will be interference when the shaft rotates. It would’ t hurt to take something soft like some sort of putty and stuff it in around both the u-joints and turn the shaft by hand to see if it binds. If there is still some room in there...

    Pinion angle shims

I have learned over the years, they know what they are talking about, but can be confusing. I have decided smaller tires and little to no lift take less gearing, get better mileage, and are easier to get in and out of.

    Pinion angle shims

Don’t stack shims. I could try to describe how to properly measure the angles to determine the shims you need but there are some excellent instructions on the internet. Here is a good one to start with. How To Measure Drive Shaft Angles Something else to keep in mind is the shim type you get...

    Exhaust manifold install tricks anyone???

The exhaust manifolds are on now. I wrapped safety wire around all the bolts so they couldn’t fall out while working the manifolds into position. The passenger side went in from the top but I needed a helper to hold the exhaust pipe in the right position to line up with the manifold. The driver...

    I will watch for that.

Clear fuel return hose from injection pump.

I should have thought about that. I have a shop a couple of miles down the road that will have some. Thanks.

Clear fuel return hose from injection pump.

Does anyone know where I can buy clear fuel return hose that comes from the top of the injection pump to the fuel return header? I have not been able to find one. I have no trouble locating a set for the injectors but not a clear line for the pump.

    Exhaust manifold install tricks anyone???

It just occurred to me, I have some safety wire. I can put the bolts in the holes and wrap the last thread showing with safety wire to keep them from falling out. I think there is a gap between the manifold and head where the bolt threads show so the safety wire shouldn’t interfere. I will look...

    Exhaust manifold install tricks anyone???

I am ready to install exhaust manifolds after getting the heads machined for my M1009. The issue I am having is keeping the bolts in the manifolds while working them into place between the frame and the heads. I don't have room to put the bolts in with the manifolds attached to the heads. It's...

    Project Wild Weasel M1009

Yep, not much of an investment but it could be a great deal for the next guy to buy it if there is anything left of it after a few years of fun.
